So, the writing is cheesy, the plot's completely unrealistic and half the cast are from 90s sitcom "Game On", but ... it's actually quite good!!
Just which demographic of people who are home during the day is this aimed at? It seems to be aiming at everyone and not really hitting the mark anywhere! But still ... it kept me entertained!!
I think the last week of "Afternoon Plays" went down well in the ratings and had critical acclaim to boot, makes a change to see original drama that's off the beaten track.
the last series was indeed a success. its exactly the type of thing the bbc should be doing - whilst itv dish out repeats, chat shows and films (where they once had regional lifestyle/features), the bbc should be producing original programmes - outside of london if possible.
as far as i understand, the afternoon plays are produced on a (comparatively) modest budget, and yet they look and feel fantastic on screen. i know we're not talking about oscar winning drama here, but for what it is, i think its great.
its a shame they don’t repeat them on bbc 3 or on bbc two at the weekend.

I agree, I'd also like to see Doctors repeated on BBC3, it could go on at 7 maybe as it is sufficiently different from Emmerdale I think.
I liked the last series. It's not exactly challenging but it's something new and original, not just rubbish filler quizes like what often fill the airwaves during this time.
Murder She Wrote should be given it's own channel though as it's so fab.
