Good point, but you should never have said that in any case.

To clear up the matter, Autism is the 'learning difficulty'. The Autistic Spectrum Disorder is a name given to those difficulties that are classified on similar terms to the problem - like Aspergers, ADHD and Semantic Pragmatic Disorder.

I concur to that statement as well. I have something called Atypical Autism and nothing else so I only have learning difficulties but sometimes I can get bad tempered if something p*sses me off like my troublesome siblings.

I would have enjoyed this show as well but sadly I missed so will it be repeated again?

terrible isn't it. how dare i not show a great deal of interest in somebody else's afflictions and illnesses - i mean - how silly of me to think for one moment that this was a television presentation forum.

I thought he'd been banned, according to the midlands tv thread, or does banning work different between the newsroom & the general forum?

Just a pitty that only 4.9m tuned in

I do wonder sometimes, ITV are always criticised for putting on low brow programmes, and then when they show a powerful drama, it underperforms in the ratings

yes that was a shame but ITV cant show soaps and reality tv all the time during peaktime so there isnt much they can do about it. This programme was well advertised beforehand.

ITV have at least 2 more one off drama's (one tommorow at 9pm and one on New Years Day) so we will have to see if they do any better. Personally I think the one on NY Day with Suranne Jones looks good.

I'd be surprised if it was you as well, do others have access to your computer?

it should be the person making crass comments getting banned, Autism is misunderstood enough without comments like that Mad

anyway one slight continuity issue with the programme, after the mum was stabbed with a fork she obviously had the cuts on her face. In the opening scene when Kyle is having his trantrum in the road she has the same cut, before the scene where he stabs her.

I happen to be friends with the real boy this drama is based on and his family (from Greenock) and I have to say it captured what the family had to go through.

Knowing the real "Kyle" though, it's pretty remarkable at what he has achieved doing and a course in Childcare in a local college and having a part time job - amazing considering he wasn't even in a mainstream school until the age of 12.

And re: BBCMIDSTODAY, I met Kyle at a local autism clinic and language/support classes. It doesn't really matter if you're autistic or not to mention or relate to how good a drama this was.

Well done ITV!

To be fair 4.9m isn't too bad, better than what ITV usually gets most Tuesdays when it's thrashed by Holby City, Gordon Ramsay and CSI.

True, but it is a little harsh, and you are bound to find one or two conversations that aren't related to what the forum is for. It's just like when certain threads go off-topic for a while before being dragged back to the main subject.

And my sister is autistic, but I didn't watch the programme, just to add to that.
