I saw it on Yorkshire (in Essex!!) last night, with, as mentioned, clips of their generic ident thing and lots of mentions of 'ITV1'. There was a map showing the advertising sub-regions in Yorkshire also.

Advertising throughout the media industry is down, and the effects have certainly been felt not least by ITV. I suppose these ads are just aimed at increasing local advertising.

Yes it appeared on Yorkshire on Sunday, and has been seen at various points since then.

It shows clips of ITV1 programmes, The ITV1/YTV Hearts ident etc.

'Advertise on Regional ITV1 - Its the business' is the slogan used.

It was last used in the middle of tonight's Calendar

HTV do it:

'To trigger interest in yourr business use the power of television'

and then a phone number.

I forget whether it was in the Central or London region (I move between the two), but Carlton have had ads like this for ages.

One shoes the sun rising and a flower opening and turning towards it - then it shows you that the sun is just on the TV and it says 'This is the power of television...to advertise call....'

Theres another one with a fly and a Venus Flytrap and I think there's another one - possibly involving rain.

Judging by how everyone saw it it looks like we're all a nation of 'The Bill' lovers!http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Yup, Carlton have done this ever since they rebranded Central and Westy. Something on telly affects something else in the room ie rain droplets on telly make a plant in the TV room grow. Then it says 'To trigger interest in your buisness use the power of television, call this number for a free information pack.'

I think this is for regional advertising.

Radio do the same, my local station Fosseway used to have a local thing but they've now got this ad about radio being 4 times better. Often used as the ad IRN play out on their bulletins. (Use of the IRN service is free, you just have to play out an ad for free in return.)

I agree - Cartlton Central have been using ads to promote advertising for some months, if not the past year.

The one I remember shows a sunflower turning towards a TV set showing a sunrise with a voiceover something along the lines of 'look at the power of television - business customers should ring this number for a free video'.

Also, very off topic, BBC World is showing HardTalk ATM with the OLD National News Studio set - are they recorded several weeks before transmission? It's very dark but the desk is definately the old double round job... Smile

OK, so my info may be totally useless but at least I'm contributing something ! Smile

Cheers,
Peter.

It has been on Granada twice with playing the lines music and ITV1 reaches to over 80% of adults per week or something it says like that.

Is that the one that's set along the beach, then ends with the map of the area. Its the ITV1 Hearts music in the background. I saw it and thought What the F**K?

Speaking of adverts, does BBC or the Regional ITVs or whatever advertise a lot on buses, billboards, and all that at certain times of the year?

I saw an ad in town once for Carlton advertising Peak Practice on a billboard, and I've seen BBC advertise Radio on buses but not TV.

It's been on a few times. Maybe they show it when they're short of adverts (which is a lot if you believe the figures), as it is more pro-active than showing a PIF or trailer.

TV-Ark have an example of one of these types of ads from Tyne Tees TV from the mid-1980's. Of course that one was very regional, and was presented by the then-head of advertising at the station. As I recall though those ads were shown as trailers rather than proper adverts, presumably the rules have been relaxed since.
