Do actors get paid everytime a programme they have been in is repeated on television?
If they do is it the same amount of money they recieved when the programme was shown for the first time (ie if the programme was made in 1980 do they get the rate they were paid then)? or do they get the going rate of today?
Is there a diffrence in pay if the programme is repeated on a sky channel than say itv or the bbc?
If they do get paid for repeates what happens when an actor dies, does their family get paid the fee and can the family stop a programme from being reapeted if their loved one was in the show who has since died?
Do they get repeat fees for films that are shown over and over again and what about commercials?
And what about the people behind the camera, writers, directors ect do they also get paid repeat fees?
Programmes like Allo Allo, The Royal Family and Only Fools And Horses seem to be repeated week in week out, if actors are paid everytime they are shown they must be very rich.

Depends on the wording of their original contract, but generally yes.

No. It is a lower fee.

Yes. Fees for repeats on terrestrial channels are signficantly higher than for digital-only channels - it's all calculated by the size of the *potential* audience.

Yes to both.

Repeat fees are not usually paid for films, but some actors may get residuals for video/DVD sales and big-name actors are usually on a percentage of the total film profits.

Actors *might* get residuals for commercials. Voice-overs nearly always get repeat fees for ads.

Camera operators and the like don't get repeat fees, but writers and composers usually do. Directors *might*.

Most of those shows are repeated on the digital-only channels, so the repeat fees are fairly low. However, given the sheer volume of repeats, the actors concerned will make a useful income from them, but nothing that will make them rich.

Another group of people who get payed for repeats are musicians. Any music played is paid for by the usual PRS payments (just like music on the radio and in public places) but if you want to repeat a live performance (an orchestra or a band on Top Of The Pops for example) all the musicians have to be paid.

However, music videos (which are made as promotions) don't have the same resrictions - you just have to pay the PRS
