The Bill Actor Dies

Colin Tarrant, who was best known for his role as Inspector Andrew Monroe in The Bill, has died age 59, his family said.
No details of his death were given, but the People reported the actor died in a suspected suicide and was found at his home in Bristol with knife wounds.

Monroe was one of the ones that died in the Sun Hill fire that Des (Paul Usher ex Brookie!) started, wasn't he?

Yeah Monroe died in the explosion the tore through the left side of the building, rather than the fire that ensued.

I think everyone who died in that was as a result of the explosion rather than a fire. So it was all because of Des.

A great actor. One of my favourite Bill characters. I remember they had a Chief Inspector aswell when he was there. Who was the Chief Inspector? - Edit: To answer my own question it was Derek Conway

Chief Inspector Conway, as played by Ben Roberts.

He died in an car explosion meant for the Suprintent that took over after Brownlow, but before Okaro.

(The storyline was also notable for WPC Polly Page trying to top herself in the loo, after a broken love affair with fellow PC Dave Quinnan, which served as a temporary exit for actress Lisa Geoghan while she had a baby off screen. Mind you she only came back for roughly a year & fell foul of psycho cop Cathy Bradford!)

Also Colin Tarrant also did the best impersonation of Brian Clough I've ever observed, he toured in a great play called Old Big Head.

An inquiry has ruled he committed suicide and had been depressed.
