ABP News

Crazy channel in a crazy place. (November 2012)

Here is an odd one for you. On my Sky box (SD, BBC One South East, ITV Merdian S) between UCB Ireland (a radio station on 0214) and BBC One South East (101) there is a channel called ABP News with no channel number shown. It just has "...programmes no longer available".

If I look in the full screen EPG, it is shown as being on channel 65535 which is obviously not a channel number I can type in.

I am guessing that ABP News is a channel that has closed down (maybe today?) and someone at Sky has pressed a few wrong buttons and put it on channel 65535 by mistake.

Can anyone else see this channel?

65535 is the highest number that can be stored in two bytes of memory. In other circumstances the same bits could also represent -1. Not that that helps identify the channel, but it does explain the number.
