That can't be good from a disney channel point of view. Bout 50% of the programming on the disney channel will now be available for viewers with just the family pack.

I still fail to understand why the Disney Channel can't be commercial and available to more viewers? It wouldn't do them any harm, and their potential audience would shoot up.

I'd guess it would be the Films they show on there, as they show what Sky Movies doesn't show, brand spanking new Disney films such as Finding Nemo and Pirates of The Carribean to name 2.

Ah, about time! I've been waiting for ABC1 to appear on Sky for ages. I can now watch Home Improvement. Do you have any idea when ABC1 is officially launching on Sky?

Home Improvement's been on Disney Channel for ages. At the moment it's up the back end of the schedule, 11pm onwards.

Exactly, HI on Disney at 11pm, where as on ABC1 it usually gets about 2/3 showings a day, one at Breakfast, the other at Lunch and the other at about 4pm.

Theres loads of channels queued up to go on the EPG at the moment. ABC1 is supposedly in the next batch at the end of this month

I would say its some contractual issue they have with sky, which may take years to get out of. I'm sure E4 have that current problem of still being on the family package, not free to air like ITV2/BBC on sky etc.

ITV2 isn't Free-to-air though ,it is Free-to-view (i.e. non-subscription, but encrypted and still requiring a viewing card and thus forcing you to use a Sky receiver)

ITV3 and the BBC channels are Free-to-air, and can be received without a viewing card, and thus you aren't limited to a Sky receiver (and can use a PC satellite card for example)

BBC World recently went on NTL in the ROI. Any chance that it might go on Sky for viewers in the ROI or is the BBC afraid that viewers in the UK will tap into it?

All they'd need to do is encrypt it and include it only in the viewing packages of ROI viewers, and problem gone.

Sounds easy so lets hope Sky actually do it. But could people in the UK not get hold of Irish Sky cards and use them to recieve it?
