Must admit, though, I did used to watch abc1 for General Hospital - shame they don't show it anymore. Plus there does not seem to be any structure to their schedules at all - continuous repeats of 8 Simple Rules, Home Improvement etc.....

I think that's where ABC1 lets itself down. There's nothing wrong with doing "themed" weekends but seeing as they keep repeating them on a two monthly basis it gets pointless.

There hasn't been any structure to abc1's schedules even since they went 24hrs. It seems to run in blocks of programmes with each programme(s) in each block being from an entirely different season. Home Improvement's quite a good example of this because at one point a couple of weeks back you could see Season 1 in the morning, Season 4 at lunchtime and Season 2 in the 3pm hour.

Anyway it looks like March's new offerings from abc1 features "all new" episodes of 8 Simple Rules. Looks like it might be Season 3. I wouldn't mind but the show just doesn't seem to gel post John Ritter.

Regarding Ftn - yawn to this channel, now it wants to be Quiz Call for three hours a night, shows nothing of any great interest (apart from Most Haunted) and is still using a presentation package it launched with, AFAIK.

I can't see Flextech dumping FTN for Living1 on Freeview as it's their most popular channel.........and making it FTA might cause problems with their Sky Contract since it is part of the Entertainment Package.

However, C4 have done it with E4, and and ITV did it with ITV2. It just tends to pi$$ people off who have to pay for the channel to watch it on DSat Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

I can't see Living1 going onto Freeview, for two reasons: firstly, it shows plenty of programmes which Flextech won't have the FTA rights for, and secondly, FTN is more or less a barker channel for Flextech's other services. If it didn't exist on Freeview, then there would be pretty much no purpose for its existence, and I've heard nothing about plans to close it.

I notice abc1 have stuck a rotating square on the main ident now advertising that they're now on HomeChoice and will, from Feb 28th, change channel numbers on Sky. They move from channel 281 as it is now to channel 165.

Of course, rather than expanding their platform range, it would be more beneficial to go 24hrs on Freeview. Something which doesn't look as if its going to happen any time soon for capacity reasons. Shame Sad
