Sadly I agree. It's a channel that has such potential too, there are so many abc programmes that could premiere there for instance. Desperate Housewives would have been a great audience puller. The reality of course is that abc make far more money out of it by selling the rights elsewhere.

Yeh, it's a shame really cause it always feels af the channel is like dead and only a couple of people work there. Even the recorded continuity felt like that.

On occasion on the days when they have marathons of 8 Simple Rules/Less Than Perfect/Home Improvement//Hope & Faith/Scrubs for six hours at a time, there's sometimes a spot of pre-recorded voiceover with a slightly longer ident.
But having said that, I have seen the channel just air a longer ident for no apparent reason other than they can.
I'm pretty sure the ECP that keeps playing over Scrubs (for 8 Simple Rules) is just the same run of credits tacked onto every episode to make it look as somebody's working on presentation. Its usually pretty obvious after the third viewing that it isn't done on-the-fly.
abc1 can make the effort when it wants to; look at the self-promotion adverts that are (or were) airing for "February on abc1". That was nice, I liked those. The ones that went out at Christmas were very good as well.

Is it just me or has abc1 completley dumped any form of continuity? Whenenver I am watching they simply play the ident with no voiceover whatsoever, not even the recorded stuff!

It shares with Top Up TV's TCM.
Oh shame really, not a bad channel really if you don't watch it for hours on end.

Have to be honest I like 8 Simple Rules but it is on WAY too much.
BTW Why doesn't ABC1 have a longer (or better) timeslot on air on Freeview. Who does it share with

Arn't Flextech dropping the FTN channel and replacing it with a simulcast of Living1.
Must admit, though, I did used to watch abc1 for General Hospital - shame they don't show it anymore. Plus there does not seem to be any structure to their schedules at all - continuous repeats of 8 Simple Rules, Home Improvement etc.....
