I thought I'd create a thread for the "nations favourite quiz" which returns on Saturday. Needless to say, people will need somewhere to say how boring it is now (or is that just me?)
I've seen a promo for it too with that ridiculously over-enthusiastic announcer that says "back with more tension than ever" or something like that.
One thing that worries me, is judging by the promos, the new series will feature the colours pink and purple an awful lot...
Sadly, Millionaire 'Classic' has taken all the fun out of the show for me. think it should leave our screens for two whole years (therefore returning Autumn 2005) and make a return as a live show.
Yeah, think about it. The presentation of the other WWTBAMs around the world is really consistant. They wouldn't make the UK version look wildly different.
Does anyone know why the much hyped screening of the Millionaire Cough episode was pulled from Saturday night's schedule at the last minute? It was due to go out at 9.15 but instead we got an old repeat of "It Shouldn't Happen to a TV Weather Presenter". The ITV1 announcer gave no explanation except to say "that was a change to our advertised programme..."
I'd be surprised if this was due to legal matters, since the episode has already been shown on ITV2 earlier in the year, and Ingram and Whittock aren't appealing against their convictions as far as I know...
I stopped watching WWTBAM a few years ago - I just became bored with it. The format was much better when it was on nightly for a week or so and then off for a few months - it became duller than dead once someone won the £ million prize and since they put it on every Saturday night for 9 months of the year!

I agree with that. It used to be exciting, that is before anyone grabbed the million! Once that woman got it, I became less and less interested, and eventually became bored with the whole programme really. I might give the new series a go, but I'll probably end up ditching it again! For me, ITV just put it into overkill, by scheduling it every night or every weekend. They definitely need to take longer breaks between series.
It is a bit tidious at times, as everyone knows the format.
Id like to see them bring the people versus back for saturday nights in its first prime time style show, as it was live and it was different. Even if they got Chris Tarrant hosting that it wouldnt be a problem.
If this is impossible, I'd like to see millionnaire for a few weeks, say till october, then return for christmas specials, then back february - may.
The thing with the show is that it can only give away a million, and when someone won it, it got boring. Because they have sold the format, theme tune, set and graphic design to all countries over the world, they cannot make major changes to the show, which I think is needed.
What happened to the show they were on about doing with Brian Conley called Roulette. It was said to be a replacement for Millionnaire. That could explain why Millionnaire is starting so early this year to make way for this later this side of christmas!
What ruins Millionaire is the constant specials. Just one episode into the series and there is already a Celebrity / 5th birthday special next week. Celeb specials should just be saved for Christmas.
Once a week is fine, but I think the series is too long, beginning in August and running through to May. November to April would be better, or splitting it into an Autumn and Spring series.

Millionaire has lost it's sparkle really. The thing is, if anyone ever wins the million it always get's leaked to the press in advance, thefore taking the element of surprise out of every show.
