Did You Know: Back in 1989 when it was 'THEN' this new obscure animated series that had just started in the US the BBC were offered broadcast rights (Seasons 1&2) for next to nothing but they turned it down...... amazing to think of that now of course.

I don't care really that we're so behind. The new episodes from the last few years have been so weak in my opinion that i don't think they deserve a terrestrial broadcast.

Yes... but they were awful. So not really that amazing at all.

The BBC did show
The Tracey Ullman Show
, but apparently they didn't show The Simpsons breakbumpers, but Fox offered the BBC rights as said, but they turned it down
And Sky One got exclusive rights up until 1996, so by then we were about 7 years behind. But saying that before the Premier League came to Sky, The Simpsons was the only real reason to fork out some cash for a Satellite dish.

I think sky one always have gaps every couple of Sundays so there can shown Simpson's over a longer period of time:
I have to agree it has gone down hill ( there are seem gems but many! )
the intro links into the movie! so 4 years later we will see this and wonder...
Considering C4 were said to be paying something ridiculous like £1m per episode it's ridiculous the episodes they get are so many years behind Sky - and they don't seem to be allowed to catch up either.
I guess then Sky probably have something in their contract giving them a lengthy period of exclusivity.
P.S. Interesting how since the launch of C4+1 they heavily promote it airing The Simpsons at the 7pm junction.
