On news 24 this evening @ 20.00, there was a 72 second countdown. Never seen it so long actually on screen. Bit wierd to have such a long one at such an early hour.

Yes it was absolutely excellent! I wish they would show us more of the long countdowns, because I think it looks and sounds much better when played on tv!

A damn fine oppurtunity I've missed here, by the sound of things. Smile

I've the seen the countdown before from about 55 seconds - I dunno if that was where it started from, 55 secs was where I switched over to BBC News 24.

I saw the countdown from 70 on the very first day it was used - 25th October 1999. It must have been played in a minute late as it should only have counted from 10 seconds; but they played the rest in its entireity and the news started at 10.01!

Only managed to video it from 64 seconds though!

The countdown runs automatically, ie no one has to press a button. On the first day it ran a minute late because of a programming error.

I seen a 89 second countdown before! I remember it because it was approaching 7.00pm just before Gwenan and Chris were about to come on, and it was a Sunday. It must have been about this time last year. It sounded fantastic!
