Looks like NOW is launching a third music channel on December 27 to coincide with NOW 80s and NOW 90s all dedicated to 70s music.

Not much of a surprise really, following the closure of Total Country, and the retention of the EPG slot by Now 80s (after its EPG slot was taken over by Now Christmas).

Isn't the 70s a bit trickier with it being before the music video became the norm, so I guess they'll be more from archive performances.

And of all the music channels actually the decades ones are probably where they could justify branching out to archive programming in the evenings, though 70s music and 70s comedy probably give you very different impressions of the decade.

As I guessed. They've been running Now 70s blocks on the 80s channel for a while, so it is the logical progression.

I'm not sure if the content on Vintage TV is still up for grabs but that would probably find some use on Now 70s...

You could expand the concept a bit further - call the channel "Now Decades" and air 50s/60s/70s content - capture some of the Vintage TV audience...

Interestingly Now Christmas seems to have effectively reverted to being Now 80s today, albeit still with Now Christmas branding (but no Christmas programming or music on the schedule), whereas Now 80s also continues separately with a totally different schedule. So we effectively have two Now 80s channels for the next couple of days until Now 70s launches.
