Well I watched 60 Seconds for the other night and I'll be completely honest- I thought it was rubbish. I apologise to Nicky who works on it if I remember correctly, but there are several things about it which just don't do it for me.

The music is awful! It just does not fit in with the program. Something louder and faster is needed. The presenter (the bloke) didn't look or sound the least bit interested in what he was saying. The program needs a lively presenter, someone like Edith Bowman for example. I learnt absolutely nothing from watching it. It's all very well saying 'you can find out more on the website' but that's just lazy! If that is what they want us to do, then why don't they just stick up a static screen with the website address on it for 60 seconds?

Oh I love the music really Smile The generic BBC themes are nice but they're on nearly all news related programmes now and I think it's enough as it is. I really like both Sumit and Tazeen. Of course you can find out more on the website! That's the whole point, they can't fit EVERYTHING into 60 seconds, but they can give you a teaser.

The program is a very good idea, but the time isn't used properly. Having the current story written at the bottom of the screen is a waste of space, this could be used to show other stories instead. The program looks very nice though, I'll give it that! [/quote]

'Programme', we're in Europe, not America Smile hehe, sorry. I think it's quite nice, it's a good start and has potential really. Maybe they should think about doing some other shows with the presenters... very nice studio btw Smile

Heres an idea: a roundup of all the stories on 60 seconds in the evening (including all the advertised web-only ones) late at night for people who don't have the internet: why not call it 60 minutes!

It would probably take that long to fit in the 20 or so stories on the web every night anyway.

What does everyone think: bad or good idea?

Beware the web bulletin is different from the TV one! There are no graphics on the web one. Worth pointing out the web bulletin is updated hourly even if there's no TV bulletin.

Just want to say that I like 60 Seconds. But I have to say the presenters speak a little fast for my liking.

Speaking on talking fast, the man who does the business on News 24 does my head in! He talks at supersonic speed!

I like the speed of the presenters - I think they could even go a bit faster!

<ego mood - sorry>
I can speak clearly and quite (or very) quickly - I reckon I'd be good on 60 seconds!

I think 60secs is actually good cos it's in keeping with Choice's audience remit (they want it to be youthful etc). Kind of a TV version of R1's NewsBeat, really... Broadcast had something a couple of weeks ago about 60secs being commissioned along with a 'highbrow' news programme for BBC4 (aka Knowledge)...
