maybe the broadcasters are concentrating on digital text.
analogue text as we know it is going to end sooner or later just like analogue tv.

True, but CEEFAX will only get pulled when analogue TV does (or maybe just slightly before) - I'm sure there are rules about the BBC providing text services.

As for the ending of analogue TV, well, what happens to ITV Digital has a lot to do with this, and we just don't know at the moment.

I hope CEEFAX pages come to BBCi when Ceefax closes.

now that 5text seems to be no more, how long is left of channel 5 itself? i think they could go under soon.

i'd say the old 16 page 500 service was better than what was there until today.

At least they had fan pages for Family Affairs.

maybe teletext could buy the license - and use the entire capacity for holidays?

I should think that if C5 was on the verge of collapse it wouldn't be broadcasting 24 hours a day, nor would it have all the up-coming re-vamps. I can't see that c5 would be closing considering the fact that the majority of the country can receive it via analogue terrestrial reception, and yet there are so many 'minority' channels floating about the Sky EPG that only a limited number of households can receive and they are surviving .. just!

Well, the two aren't linked anyway - Sky decided to pull the plug on the service because they were not making money - which isn't surprising, really. C5 on the other hand is profitable.
