The London Evening Standard, former BBC Trust chairman Sir Michael Lyons, and ex-Channel 4 chairman Luke Johnson are among those bidding to run one of Jeremy Hunt's new local TV channels in the UK capital.

CityTV Birmingham's bid is quite comprehensive, they were meant to be something to do with CityTV Canada!

Looks better than the other three bidders. Interesting that Metro 8, which seems to be supported by a Canadian company, have bid for pretty much every big city but not Birmingham.

If STV win the bid, I wonder if they will need presenters and reporters because I want a job... lets hope !

Well I think it's because CityTV have gone for Brum - I've been following CityTV since about 2009.

Late last year they announced Ashley Blake as one of their directors!

These are all delightfully dreadful, exactly as expected. Love the audio mix on the 'City TV' promo - laughable. And the programming lineup on London8 looks like it was dreamt up by a masturbating forumer. 'After8'. Classic.

The very idea that people will be tuning in every morning to watch 'travel updates every 8 minutes' when there are infinitely superior resources available now to check travel news.

Enjoy your quality hyper-local programming everyone.

Low quality.

Please excuse me for I've only heard bits and pieces about this so-called "Channel 6" but is this pretty much another regional ITV-esque system, but on a much, much smaller scale?

No, the idea of a central network was considered and scrapped. This is basically 19 versions (was 21 but 2 areas got no bids) of Channel M, as I understand it.

The programming these bids list are very well intentioned but no-one is going to watch them.

Every night at 2300 in Venue8 there's music, comedy and performance as a key part of our commitment to give new opportunities to London talent. At the weekends Download will rundown London's top music downloads, meet the DJ's keeping London's clubnights buzzing and check out the newest apps and devices.

Who would regularly tune into either of those? A lot of the stuff they're planning appears to aimed at audiences that probably don't exist.
