The scoreboard has been revealed....

Eurovil posted:
As you can see in the pictures, this year’s graphic package for the Eurovision will be inspired by the general design of the contest. Lots of green, forest lights and a calm atmosphere. The new design shows a bit of a change in the basic idea of last years ESC. A year after revealing the new ESC logo and the design line of the countries flags inside hearts, NTU takes another step. This year's flags will appear inside green aura shining balls, like the balls you would see around Kiev and the sports palace.

The principle behind the graphics and animation stays the same as last year. Every country that will be awarded 12 points will receive a subtitle. The country’s spokesman will give the points in a small window on the up right corner of the screen. Every country that will be awarded with points will receive a light struck that will change the numbers in its raw.

Please note also that this will be the first time the contest is broadcast in 16:9.

Now tell me if I am wrong, but was'nt the whole point of introducing the heart logo a way of continuity between contests?

So why have the Ukraine reshaped the flags on the scoreboard? No doubt all the other graphics will be like this.

I'm not complaining as I think each contest should have a different graphic set - however if they introduced the heart designs for a reason, they should be kept to.

3 pieces of news for you here....

1. Here's a much better image of the scoreboard...
http://www.esctoday.com/images/2005/scoreboard_2005_0.jpg

Ooo, it's pretty isn't it?

Next...
2. The firs odds have been released for this year's winner - take a look here!
(Sky Bet also show who they predict the winner of the semi-final and the whole thing will be)

Finally...
3. Monaco may "do a Lebanon" and pull out of this year's contest because of the death of Prince Rainier III.
From Oikotimes:
"Monaco: Ukrainian eurovision website spreads that Monaco withdraws

The official eurovision website of NTU eurovision.ua reports today that Monaco asked from EBU to withdraw from Eurovision Song Contest 2005. The reason is of course the death of the Monegasque Prince Rainier III the mourning of which will last two months, a period which covers Eurovision 2005. Therefore Monaco will not be able to broadcast Eurovision since it is an entertnaining show. Monaco also cancelled the Tennis tournament and football matches are re-scheduled.

Official press-service confirms that they had received notification from Monegasque delegation that in case Prince dies they will withdraw. But they have not received confirmation yet, after his death. Oikotimes.com has asked the Monegasque delegator to confirm or deny the news. Until Monaco respond please read this rumor news with extreme caution."

What a week!

Yes - every Eurovision should have its own graphics, it's what makes it interesting. Indeed it's what makes it watchable Smile

Course the logo is the same, it's EBUs plan to make it well... better branded than just changing the logo each year!

I think it's awful - the heart in use for the past few years is so contrived, supposedly post-modern ironic and all that.

It's just tacky.

She looked like a dildo.

And, whilst you're giving others a hard time over their grasp of the English dictionary, one assumes you have a complete understanding of the exact meaning of the word "dildo".

Given the assumption that you wouldn't dream of referring to the kettle in any dark coloured way, perhaps one might enquire where you felt the lady in question should have her batteries inserted?

Apologies for being a pedant, but a dildo wouldn't contain batteries. If it had batteries it would be a vibrator.
