Jonathan Ross was presumably on the judging panel because the BBC don't take Eurovision particularly seriously, as well they shouldn't. It's there as a sort of 'isn't this stupid?' ironic thing - all you need to do is hear Terry Wogan's commentary to see that.

Having said that, we need to stop patronising the rest of Europe by talking about only voting for potential winners. We seem to believe they'll only go for novelty acts, or 80s retro pop crap. People in Europe often have the same taste in music as us. This country punches above its weight when it comes to music - when we start believing that Europe has moved on from Making Your Mind Up or Cliff Richard, we might win something.

Really didn't want to see Katie Price win because she couldn't sing a note, Tricolore because I'm already fed up with the novelty act that is G4, and Andy Scott-Lee .... do I even need to give a reason? Javine was the best of a bad bunch, even though a lot of her appeal ironically came down to her appealing to the same lowest common denominator appeal as Jordan (wearing very little, raunchy dance routines etc). They're not as different as they think.

Still good to hear the audience booing the minute Jordan got a vote though ... Laughing

Interestingly, this is the third year in a row where the UK entry has started with the letter J. (Jessica Garlick, Jemini, James Fox, Javine).

...or not, depending on your point of view. Well done Javine! If Jordan had won, well, I'd have given up there and then.

That woman needs to be locked up! What the hell is she playing at now?! Evil or Very Mad That may sound harsh - but I've had enough of her and her famous assets!

....Anyway enough about Natasha Kaplinsky.... Wink

Congrats to Javine! I'm pleased Tricolore didn't win - I feel the europeans don't want ballads/slow songs. I think they are seen as boring and forgettable. (my opinion).

Out of the judges, I only felt myself agreeing with Paddy (Bring back Liquid News) O'Connell. But hey, who takes this seriously.

I see the BEEB have dished another excuse to get the lovely Natasha Kaplinksy on our screens on Saturday night. She is back with Wogan to host Make Your Mind Up.

Natasha's gorgeous - i watch everything she's in and it's good the beeb are acknowledging her talents. Hope to see loads more of her over the coming months. Anyone know if she's still seeing her old dance partner - i'm dying to know also, now gaby roslin's quit children in need Natasha has been lined up to take her place so we could have years of Natasha hosting it. Natsha Kaplinsky, as lovely as she is, is in danger of doing a carol Vorderman. There is just too much of her on t.v. I really wish she would take a break before i get sick of the sight of her.

About Katie prices outfit...
She looked like a dildo, i know she's known for her tacky outfits but really what was she thinking.

The thing is, if the out of tune singing of Katie Price went to the Eurovision in May, we would have most definately had another extremely low placing song on our hands. At the time of the Song Contest she would be 8 months pregnant - so if she wore that outfit again she'd look even more like a fat teletubby.

I'm so glad Javine won, lets hope she does well this year, only to prove that its not all about tactical voting. As for Jordan and her disgusting porn show well I am very surprised at the BBC, it was vile to watch.

Didn't anyone give the pig ugly bint a mirror before she went out on stage and sang, well I say sang LOL!

Yeah you might have a point there. Too much over exposure usually results in tears, or lack of tv work. We don't really see Carol doing much these days.

Well the show was OK - though comparing it to Melodifestival in Sweden it did feel a bit "low key". I guess the panel and little inserts were needed to add some "we don't really take it seriously" irony to the proceedings, in Sweden they just go all out and treat it like a mini-Eurovision of their own (and it often looks better than the real thing)

I'm glad Javine won, and I think Gina was let down badly by her voice. Flashback is the only song I'm humming to myself though - and I've only heard it a couple of times - can't remember Javine's, and I'm trying to forget Katie's...

BTW - Katrina, who won for the UK with her "Waves" in 1997, is through to the "second chance" semi-final of Melodifestival (along with Alcazar) - she could yet be representing Sweden this year - though I haven't heard the track yet.

Personally I want Fredrik Kempe to win Melodifestival this year - though Sanne Salomonsen's track is also pretty good. (apologies for spellings)

Exactly what I thought. Laughing

Overall, Jordan was cheap, tacky, super-camp and had no musical merit whatsoever. I think she'd have been perfect to represent us at Eurovision.

As for Kerplunkski, why does she always have to stand with her hands held together in front of her chest? It makes her look like Mr Burns from the Simpsons.
