With regard to scrapping televoting, that will never happen because there would be too much revenue lost as a result. A 50:50 mix between jury and televote is far more likely. Even then, neighbourly voting will of course still feature but will be less effective.

That was my idea!
I was thinking of that during last nights voting!

There is a lot of talk of the big five pulling rank after tonight. Greece and Malta of course got the votes they deserved but this given points to neighbours business really has undermined the contest and I can see big changes again before the next one.

PS: Anyone notice BBC1 cutting out of the credits early?

Suspect this was to avoid a VERY long sponsor list which might have breached BBC Producer Guidelines. I think that this year's contest was heavily sponsored - the only way that Ukraine could afford to host it.

I watched the clean feed of the Eurovision and it was cut out too. I think the EBU cut it because it went on for too long, which probably means more cost and the NTU would pay for it.

RTE broadcast the whole credits, and the whole SAMSUNG over the scoreboard, and also the web URL of someone who I can't remember who appeared on all the astons.

I switched to TVE Internacional after the BBC had switched away, and the end credits were still well and truly rolling. After the end, TVE then ran a couple of Spanish production team credits over an extended edit of the Eurovision theme.

I think the EBU prefers non-commercial broadcasters though.

Most EBU members are commercial based broadcasters to some extent nowadays.

I can't think of one, other than the Beeb, who are 100% commercial free now ?

The BBC3 coverage: Eurovision... A Little Bit More was absolutely hilarious and a great way to finish a wonderful evening.

when Paddy and Javine swapped due to the drunken perv and then Paddy thumped him was the best telly I've seen in ages. Utterly hillarious programme

Yes - whereas I can't list all of them, the majority, if not vast majority of Europe's psbs are now dual-funded.

I don't know why the BBC cut the credits only last night; for the past number of years there has been acres of advertising logos at the end of the credits - perhaps they've had enough at this stage. It was Estonia that started it off, despite the fact that the EBU pays for around 50% of the contest now if not more; the total burden is not lumped onto the host broadcaster anymore as is commonly misconcieved.

Also for those of you in BBCland, it would seem all/most of the broadcasters showing the Eurovision were forced to have an advertising sting for a Ukranian telecoms company before and after the contest, as well as before and after ad breaks. The sting was dubbed for all the various countries languages, but Ireland got a London accented v/o as is typical with cheap advertisers who can't be bothered to alter the dubbing for over here. I was surprised considering this was Eurovision, celebrating diversity.......

Very annoying though that the sting came on even before the EBU ident - how horribly commercial the Eurovision has become.
There was nothing grander than the various stations' continuity idents dissolving into the EBU ident VT. Now it's a crass commerical sting.
An utter disgrace Evil or Very Mad

Radical Idea - voting phoneline GFX show the artist/song name instead of the country so morons don't realise what country it is unless they've made notes.

May help reduce political voting a touch,

With the texception of the Big Four mind you the final result is normally the best song and is decided with the lower points (not the 10 / 12). Jemini did deserve to get 0 points for their performance.

The scoreboard they used was the most dull thing I've seen for a while.

The best scoreboards were 2002 and 2003 in my opinion.

2001 the worst.
