Interesting that the BBC decided to bow out of the coverage by fading to their own copy of the Eurovision logo before the end credits had even began to get going! I switched over to TVE - they stayed with the main feed until the bitter end, then ran their own credits for the Spanish tv team!
I think it's a serious matter that the four main contributors to the EBU came last ... though I'm glad that Greece won - at least that brings the contest out of the Eastern European phase it's been stuck in for years!

They took the coverage until 18:15, followed by the national and regional news and then into Doctor Who and the usual schedule at 18:30.
As for the junior mastermind final, it has been postponed until tomorrow afternoon at 15:35 replacing repeats of Bargain Hunt and As Time Goes By.

Speaking of over-running (although off topic) I've been at work this evening. How did BBC1 handle their schedule following the FA Cup over running. I see ITV moved the News forward after the Star Wars Film.

And Greece is so far West isn't it!
Another point - were the songs longer this year - or did it just seem like they were?

They used to be limited to 3 mins - this year I believe it was 3.5 mins.

Ireland were knocked out within the semi final that aired on BBC Three earlier this week!
I also don't think that Javine's song was one of the worst of the evening, it's all political. For me the way forward would be to get delegets from non european countries to vote on the actual music.

I know Javine's song was not great, but i also don't think it helps with her being on 2nd, as you tend to forget the song etc. If you ask me anyway i think we should pull out if we get crap votes next year, has Ireland pulled out or did they get knocked out to make the final?

Well, we can always dream. Thank god for Terry Wogan, without him that show would be nearly unwatchable. He was saying what I was thinking. Javine did well, and at least we beat last years number of votes, by 2 points.

I hated it all.
The songs were dreadful, all eastern european style with tribal drums. What happened to camp pop ?
That's Javine's career over then.

Or split the UK up into 4 and make sure we all vote for each other?

Also, Terry makes the point about Germany, France, UK and Spain finishing in the last 4 - but what about Italy. Do they have no involvement with Eurovision?
Taken from another website:
Italy's absence from the ESC has two basic reasons:
1. RAI (the Italian National Broadcaster) used to select its ESC participant through the San Remo festival and because of the bad italian results in the last years of Italy's participation in the ESC, RAI decided to "protect" the galmour and the prestige of the San Remo festival winners from the bad publicity that potential ESC rankings would give them by withdrawing from the ESC.
2. RAI officials have negatively commented in various occasions the enlargement of the ESC towards the east and expressed the opinion that they could not see Italy in a future ESC where the majority of participating countries would belong to east Europe.
My two cents:
Another factor that most Italians don't even watch the ESC, RAI wouldn't want to lose ratings. I think they haven't even broadcasted it live in the past couple of years.
