Yep English is a funny language
Although I think the Oxfordshire town of Thame whose name is presumably derived from the river ( or vice versa?) is (I think) pronounced Tame ?

Nice touch that they've stuck their own mock "What if Thames was still broadcasting" ident at the end!
I'm amused to see the Tony Bastable computer show Database in there - expect clips of baffling early 1980s technology shows must do them decent business.
By the way, the official Thames channel on YouTube is fantastic for archive footage.

Thame lies on a river of the same name (and pronunciation) that flows into the Thames a few miles south of Oxford.
It never even occurred to me to pronounce it any other way, but it is logical if you've never herd of one of the most famous rivers in the world!
My other half had always deliberately mispronounced it 'the River T-Har-mees'
Maybe they should have called the company 'Tems'

This clip of Database was doing the round a couple of years ago, How to send an e-mail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szdbKz5CyhA
Some clever bod on Reddit even managed to decode the computer program broadcast at the end.
The good thing about the Thames YouTube account is that they'll often upload topical clips to the account, for example when someone famous dies they'll often upload a clip of them from Afternoon Plus or Gloria Hunniford. It's very much an active archive

Am reminded of when Frank Bough appeared on Shooting Stars and they spelt his name Frank Boff.... then when they were corrected they pronounced it Frank Bowel

I remember the mighty Fred Harris testing out a voice synthesiser on Saturday Superstore by using the phrase ‘Frank Bough has a rough cough.’
