Whilst I was watching BBC News at 6.25pm, once they went into the weather with Alex Deakin, he mentioned how weather broadcasts looked in 1950, and the BBC immediately made the colour into 1950s black and white for about two minutes, whilst Alex was saying what the forecasters used to do in the 1950s, which was pretty neat!

It was very amusing when Alex Deakin appeared at 6.55pm with a picture of a Sun with 50 over it and he said no that is not the temerature it's actually the 50th anniversary.............
You would think that they would make a special programme about it, they seem to do for everything else.

And from the following day's One O'Clock News, when Michael Buerk was interviewing Ian Macaskill about the hurricane:
"Well, Ian, a fat lot of good you guys were last night......!"
Priceless.

They did indeed do one for the fortieth anniversary, I think they could have bothered for the fiftieth.

Has anyone got a copy of John Kettley (Is A Weatherman) by a group called Tribe of Toffs in here?

AIUI all of the BBC Weather presenting team are Met Office employees, and all have training in Broadcast Meteorology. This is training in meteorology related to broadcasting - and may not be a degree. However some of the presenters on the BBC are fully trained Met Office forecasters, who have worked outside the broadcasting arena, so possible have higher levels of training in non-broadcast forecasting areas, and may also have directly relevant degress.
However all the BBC National Weather Presenters have Met Office training - and none are just presenters.

Yeah - i presume all the older forecasters - Micheal Fish, Rob McElwee, Penny Tranter, Helen Young etc are.
But are the new ones just presenters - Nina Ridge, Alex Deakin, Tori Good, Carol Kirkwood etc.?
