Channel Television's 50th birthday celebrations start this week, with a 6 part series starting on Thursday at 7:30pm.

The series will cover News, Famous Faces, Adverts, Sports Coverage and Entertainment Moments.

It's good to see that they've got a proper series for the anniversary (and in a prime time slot), instead of just having reports during Channel Report.

NEWS: Channel 50 - News
On: Channel
Date: Thursday 26th July 2012 (starting in 3 days)
Time: 19:30 to 20:00 (30 minutes long)

An anytime alert is set for 15 minutes before the programme starts
Jess Dunsdon presents the first in a series of programmes on fifty years of broadcasting at Channel Television. She counts down what the public voted for as their most memorable Channel Island news story of the past fifty years.

Opting out of Tonight.

Surprised it's not on in place of Monday's Countrywise or Tuesday's Trash to Treasure, both of which Wales opts out of.

They're showing Tonight at 12:30am (with the repeat being shown 2 and a half hours later at 3:00am)

Is there any way I can get these things to record on Sky+?

What about the Channel island player?

I didn't think such a thing existed! How wrong I was, seems to use some kind of ITV Player API for most content and then a redirect to what looks like a blog page for everything else. Clunky.

How is the integration with ITV plc going? I see they're still using the set design from ages ago for regional news...

The only way to record Channel Television via Sky+ would be to tell Sky you've moved house, and give them a Channel Islands address. Otherwise, you'd have to tune it in manually and record it via an external device.

In terms of post-ITV takeover, the only noticeable on-screen change is that trailers are now being made in the same style as network trailers. Apart from that, it's more or less the same.

They still appear to be running pretty much independently from ITV at the moment. For example, they launched a Channel News app last month, something which I don't believe any other ITV plc region has got.

They do call themselves 'ITV Channel Television' on screen a lot more too. Something they never used to do. Used to just be 'Channel' or 'Channel Television'

No full ident for the 50th anniversary, but there is this short sting. Spot the hexagons logo in there...
