Could have, maybe, used the '2' balloon, in amongst the 'regular' balloons, though Very Happy
Possible ident(s) for use with the forthcoming relevant programming?

They've even added in that 2 teapot that was used for a week or so during BBC2's english season in 1991.

The fluffy BBC Two appears to have lost quite a bit of fluff and seems to be weak at the neck. It's nice BBC Two has kept all these from over the years - that Gill Sans Black Two is probably one of the, if not most, recognisable brands on British TV. The fact it's so simple yet versatile probably helps.

I often think it's funny how the '2' really worked as a brand and yet the '1' that was introduced in 1991 never really worked. They tried, there were many interval stings and animations as well as using it in exactly the same way top left on slides and menus and yet somehow because they stuck with the globe rather than doing anything really clever with it, it was eventually quietly dropped...

I think part of the reason for that is due to the fact that the figure '2' has a much more interesting, curvy shape (which Lambie-Nairn took full advantage of in the '90s!), and, as a result, many different creative ideas could be used with it, whereas the figure '1' is rather lacklustre, visually, in comparison. It doesn't have any curves - it's shape is just a 'line', basically.

If BBC2 do commission a special ident for the celebrations, I hope to God that this isn't it.

I like how for the '2' window, instead of using the current '2', they used the '2' from 1991 to 2007.

Probably using that "TV Logos" font that was all the rage amongst mockers in the early 00's.

I never understood why it was so popular - none of the glyphs I made in that font were exactly accurate! The fonts that Martin (I think it was) created were far superior.
