Sorry to be a spoilsport, and going on about terrorism and all that, but I just thought you'd have seen this....

Have been watching a few of the videos online, the director for the Ireland show appears to like changing camera shots.

The studio wasn't that great that you had to see it for every angle!

And as was said before, it appears Albania went over the top with the spending for their video equipment, the studio and the lighting... Mr. Green

COME ON CYPRUS AND GREECE!

That's the other issue surrounding this year's Eurovision...Turkey doesn't recognise the Republic of Cyprus at all, but they'll be competing in this year's event. TRT have tried a number of times already to pass them off as "South Cyprus" or the "Greek Cypriot Administration".

I wouldn't worry - like Latvia and Estonia for the last two years, the Swedes are providing the TV production facilities (with a bit of help from the Finns I expect). That will mean 4 out of the 5 last Eurovision contests have been produced by a team co-ordinated pretty much by SVT? And who can blame Eurovision for chosing them - the SVT MelodiFestival (the huge contest where Sweden choses its Eurovision Entry) competition makes Pop Idol look quite unimpressive. The Swedes really know how to make great eventy music telly.

(And yes I do have the last two year MelodiFestivals on DVD... Sad? Me?)

That's the reassuring side of it all. The director for the contest, I'm told, is also Swedish. As long as TRT bureaucracy stays as far back as possible, it should go smoothly. I won't be watching on TRT or anything though - Wogan and BBC Prime commentary for me!

Quite a difference with so many songs on it this year, hard to pick out a favourite.

Hmm - not sure that is "legal" under Eurovision rules. AIUI the national votes must be broadcast from the city that the back-up jury are resident in/and the televotes collated from? (The BBC wanted to deliver the votes from Edinburgh a while back and weren't allowed to?) Or maybe they just have to LOOK like they are being broadcast from there...

From now on, the televotes are not collated by a telephone company in each country. Deutsche Telekom (or one of its subsiduary companies) has a contract with the EBU to collate ALL the televotes and text votes from all 36 voting countries at a central point in Cologne. The results will then be sent to the broacasters in each country.

The numbers by the side of the country names will have the country's flag on it!

Thanks,
