Am I the only one who thinks this is ever so slightly OTT?

In my opinion, news studios should be massive and OTT - it makes the news more interesting, allows for more variety in presentation style and makes the news more of a grand event.

Compare that studio to five's recent 'broom cupboard with bench' and you'll probably see what I mean.

That set is awful. It looks nothing like a news studio. For some reason, and I don't know what, it reminds me of Sixty Minutes.

Isn't it odd to see a gallery with 4:3 images on all the monitors - how quaint?!

60 Minutes from CBS? And anyway is not a news channel its a business channel...big difference.

Looks like a typical American set to me - the type that in the UK would only be used for You've Been Framed-type programmes rather than news/business channels. The thing that always strikes me about American sets is that I can never pick out a common theme throughout the design. They're usually too cluttered and OTT, in my opinion.

What are all the cuddly toys and baseball caps doing in the Squawk Box set?

Well the sets in use here were used across the US 10-15 years ago. They are old and played out. News has graduated in a sense to something grander than a guy sitting behind a boring desk and blue bloody backdrop. I think most US sets are far more colourful than the sets in use here, so it may seem like an "entertainment" set to us. The "stuff" on the SquawkBOX set is stuff they've collected over the years. Plus it kind says "We're playful, Dont be so serious about everyhthing, Lighten up". Though in my opinion its a bit too much stuff.

Someone who has the screen caps of the new C5News set should submit them to this news set website. Contribute to SETSTUDIO
He still has the old ones up. They need to be updated.

No they are not, that is absolute bullsh-t.

Chiguy, are you the tosser (under a different name) who kept coming on here telling everyone how wonderful WSVN et al were?

Big deal it's a (not hugely impressive) studio design. Great. Get over it.
