Which set of generic ITV1 idents we've had since 2002 do you prefer?

I can't help but thinking that whatever you say about ITV, the celebrity idents (probably the second set) fitted the image of ITV1 the best. The brashness and the upbeat catchy music etc, anyone agree?

The new ones are better than the original red bee ones, but it's still all a bit arty and distant from what the channel is actually about

Anyone who hates them all and just wants to rant about how things haven't been the same since local continuity was dropped can start another thread and do that there

To be honest none of them - they are very dull and boring.

I still prefer the old IT* logo - far more classier than what we have today.

I feel that the IT* shows what ITV was and can be in the future a market leader in television!

I'd have to go for the graphic squares - simple and effective but still far removed from those wonderful Carlton idents.

The second set of celeb idents were certainly better than the first but the whole rebrand was a missed opportunity thanks to the lack of investment. The stuff coming out of the US that they were based on makes much better use of lighting, directing and post production on their personalities. You can't just stick some celebs on a yellow and blue set, get them to grin and expect the idents to look decent.

I still think there's millage in using channel personalities and even title sequences from shows in some fancy way, maybe resolving into a big ITV1 logo or something. You could have one for the big entertainment shows, sport, drama etc.. Providing the software could make a template where other clips could be easily slotted in if necessary, it would look good and have a decent number of variations.

It would relate much more to the viewer to see Ant & Dec or the Corrie titles than a man on a boat or walking down some market stall.

I'm going to have to say the graphical squares, even though they are still not as good as pre-2002 Wink

Interesting choice there by Andrew not to put a "<2002" option up on the poll.

Not really because everyone would vote for that one (myself included) and it would pretty much make the thread null and void

Just to slightly defend my post before I get slagged off - I feel that this post is about the generic ITV logo's and not the regional ones hence my reason for plumping for the original generic ITV logo - which was used up until the hearts - hence it was the longest used generic ITV logo and such as shame that it wasn't included on the list!

The squares were the only ones I found half-decent.

Funny how the three of us who voted for the squares have posted, but none of the seven who voted the current set have...

The 2004-2006 Graphical Squares were the best by miles IMO.

The new set introduced on Monday would be 2nd but I dont feel they are anything special.

The other 3 I didnt really like much at all - although the ITV1 ident we got before the news from 2002-4 was good.
