I didn't mean really serious people.

I just meant anyone who wanted it badly enough and wanted to take advantage of the good offer.

A actually agree, most serious people would already have such a setup.

I didn't mean anything by it, but obviously there were people that really wanted to take advantage of the offer. Smile

As someone previously mentioned, BBC World is available from the Arabsat 26.5°E satellite and has standard paremeters, which means it could be received by a Sky digibox, but there is little else there to warrant a whole system devoted to it.
You would be better to stick a bigger dish up and fit two LNB's to it. It's so close to SkyDigital that with a massive dish, you might just get it in. Though I doubt it.

Of course, you could set up a motorized dish, but they cost a lot of money!

It was me that said it before... and the last line is the bit I'm interested in! How much would I be talking to get something that could move my standard minidish about 2 degrees so I could get BBC World? Any ideas anyone?

The LNB is digital & analogue and the box is FTA analogue only! As Lidl is German, the box is German. There are many FTA channel is German available with this system. The Digityal& Analogue LNB is so Germans can plug in a Premiere World digibox or a FTA digital box so they can watch German channels. The only reason Lidl sell them over here is so the gullible believe that it is a fully blown digibox with all the Sky channels.
A QUICK BUCK!!!

Any analogue receiver will receive BBC World, so I don't see why Lidl's system shouldn't.

The dish is plenty big enough and the analogue box should be fine.

I use an old Pace analogue receiver which works fine, there's not as much tweaking to do ask digital. You just enter the frequency and the channel comes in. Smile

I can say with all certainty that the Lidl system should be able to receive BBC World. I can't be sure, but I CANNOT think of one reason why it shouldn't. Very Happy

BBC World India is available from the ArabSat at 26.5°E, but I'm not sure of its footprint. I don't think it will work with a standard Sky minidish as its beam is not over the UK.

Bear in mind that you don't get a few programmes on BBC World India, Asia Today is repeated a lot and Asia Business Report is on quite a bit as well. Also the funding could be a lot different for the Indian version and you might see more ad's and less break fillers.

BTW, I seen the weather break filler coupled with sport. Amazing, I've been watching BBC World for ages and have never seen it till now. I don't watch at the right times obviously. Wink

So how much more expensive is it to buy an analogue dish, box etc from somewhere other than Lidl?

The dish and LNB's can be obtained easily enough from shops. I'm not sure of the actual price, it depends which size you want.

Analogue receivers are easily available and people are giving them away, or selling them at car boots for only a couple of pounds, so there is no great expense.

Having said that, you might pick up a full Sky system from a car boot for a cheap price. You'll have everything for not a lot of money! Smile

I don't know anything about satellite systems but this sounds like a good deal.  If a similar deal was available are there satellite channels I can pick up without subscribing?  Like BBC and ITV free to air channels on ITVDigital.

My subscription for ITVDigital is due for renewal at the end of September, I bought an IDTV last year.  Therefore, I am looking to see if I can get a better service for free, or at least cheaper than the ITVDigital package.

Any help and advice would be most welcome.  Does anyone know a site that gives a good introduction to Satellite Reception, etc.
