From tomorow, Lidl are selling satellite systems with 80cm dish, 20m cable, with 999 channels, IF-Freq 900-2150 MHz which also includes Phillips digital LNB for digital and anaglogue reception. Just wondering if you lot think this is a good deal?? I have never seen a system this cheap before. With the anagalogue + digital LNB does this mean you could recieve anaglogue as well as digital signals??? (Sorry, Im a little thick!!) lol. Cos then i can recieve BBC World

I think you could indeed receive analogue channels with that. That's what it would suggest to me. I think you'd need to check the freq's though and how they work - no EPGs for you with that Very Happy As for digital I don't know.

What I'd like to do is get something to rotate my digidish cos I'm told there's a BBC World broadcast at 26.5E on Arabsat.

Ive checked their website (lidl.com) and theres nothing on it, I was hoping to find info about their special offer etc but it seems all it offers is a company history and infornation about recruitment!

Oh well I might find my nearest store and have a look in to see if they can tell me anymore

One last thing- Please let BBC World be available on it!

Well I'm not expert when it comes to dishes but that does sound excellent and surely pointing it at Hotbird would work perfectly for an 80cm one?

Cheers, Asa

Damm Encription!!!

though there are ways round it! Wink

Not that I know any of course I just heard someone talking about it - I know nothing!

As I said earlier can anyone get a list of channels available on the frequency or whatever - even if someone can roughly say how many channels you are expected to get?

Ive got the Yellow Pages out to find my nearest store so I can go out tomorrow and buy it - hopefully!

Also I posted a message on MediaBullet`s forum so if anyone knows anything then we can find out from there.

A good place to start is www.satcodx.com/eng/ for all your satellite frequencies information!

For Hotbird www.satcodx1.com/0130/eng/

WOW!

That sounds like an amazing deal! Does the receiver give you both analogue and digital? Or just one or the other?

Whichever it is, there are a lots of digital channels around the world. Including Astra 19.2°E and Hotbird 13°E. Thats where the majority of the channels are.

BBC WORLD is available from 13°E in analogue BTW!

Also, BBC Prime is not so much a subsciption channel, but you need a subsciption to see it. If that makes sense. It comes under many of the basic channel packages in Europe in digital on Canal Plus+ and TPS for example. You can subscribe if you get a friend abroad to buy a box and give them their address. You will also receive BBC WORLD in that way.
Though, its a lot of trouble just to receive those two channels. Wink
