I Cant believe this has gone under the radar of many!

Yes Yorkshire did try something back in the late 70's but it was not until today the BBC Jumped the GUN and beat TVAM.

There was quite a tedious report on The One Show about this at the start of the week about the launch of Breakfast Time, and their studio guest was TV-am launch presenter Angela Rippon who obviously went on to talk about TV-am, which wasn't really the subject of the feature.

Sure as hell, if the IBA hadn't created a Breakfast ITV franchise, and TV-am had never existed, then the Beeb wouldn't have launched Breakfast Time in 1983

Wait, what did Yorkshire do? I didn't know they tried something in the morning

Looking at those very early days, complete with contemporary sun logo, it's a bit of a shame that the modern programme looks not too disimilar to any generic BBC news bulletin. I understand and appreciate the concept of corporate branding but feel it can make things a bit dull sometimes and doesn't need to be taken to the extent that it often is these days.

YTV did an experimental programme for a week or two in 1977 I think. Only seen in the YTV region.

Hosted by Bob Warman ?

BBC Scotland did a TV simulcast of the Radio Scotland breakfast show, which was nothing more than
cameras in the radio studio, with a few basic graphics thrown in. Circa 79/80 I think ?

In 1977, YTV launched a six-week breakfast television experiment, Good Morning Calendar.

Good Morning Calendar is credited as being the UK's first breakfast television programme, six years before the launch of TV-am.

Tyne Tees did something similar - I assume launching on the same morning? I know very little about the content of their shows, or even who presented it.

Correct:

Both Programmes started on Monday 28th March 1977 at 08.30. running until 09.30am on YTV and 10am on TT.
alas just after Easter, Tuesday 12th April

08.30 Good morning Cal or North etc
08.45 Cartoon
09.00 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peyton_Place_(TV_series)

Both finshed on Friday 27th May 1977. Thus it was a 9 week run:

Where is that scan from - odd to see old listings with almost all ITV regions listed, especially with no particular region taking prominence.
