I think the programme needs to be scrapped alltogether - its had its day. Its been on for what, 8 years now? Its not must see tv like it was when it started.

I agree. I think Millionaire lost its novelty a long time ago, and endless repeats of its celebrity editions have not helped. Even Weakest Link has managed to maintain a steady audience

If somebody won £250,000 on DOND , it would attract far more attention these days. It is faster-paced and more unpredictable than Millionaire , and in vogue at the moment.

Greg Scott with Gavin Scott?

We'd have to get some spectacles and an arrangement by Ronnie H.

But I'm up for it.

Its annoying how they always make celebrity programmes of these types of shows. Id prefer to watch the normal version than the celeb one and thats bad enough!

I think many have done just that. It's the weak link in ITV's Saturday night schedule, and viewers usually go over to BBC One once Millionaire comes on.

If Millionaire has been going 8 years, then Weakest Link has been going 7, and that's on every day!

But that's on at daytime. If ITV considered moving WWTBAM to daytime then it could survive for a few more years.

Andrew posted:
Plus, if Millionaire was axed, another channel, probably Five, would probably end up picking it up. Celador would not let it die

Aren't Celador selling the show?

I think it's just a very tired format. It's no longer a ratings banker. ITV were very clever to pick it up originally, and it became a massive hit. But times move on, and ITV need to look for the next big hit, not rely on the tired format that attracts very little viewers.

In a honest answer, don't take this the wrong way. I think you could do well with a Barrymore style show like he had in the 90s. Mixing with the studio audience doing zany wacky stuff. Getting the punters up on the stage doing what they do best. As long as you don't have an interest in swimming and you don't slur your speech then your on to a winner.

I think this is why DOND hasn't featured 'celebs' yet, Noel Edmonds has encouraged the powers-that-be to resist this urge!! Thankfully.

Part of its appeal is the fact it only features ordinary people
