Having bought a few dvds lately, I've noticed the name 2|entertain appear at the beginning. I looked into this and it seems that 2|entertain is the new branding for all DVDs released by VCI and BBC Worldwide.

Is this old news? Seems a shame that VCI has been consigned to the past.

yes it is. I found this out a while back once I noticed the logo on the incoming deliveries.

On this line - I noticed things like Coupling were being released by VCI and not BBCW so presumably they were rather chummy before setting up this new company.

I was more surprised at the fact WHSmith's evil supplier is owned by Woolies. Mind Smiths prob flog them their papers.

Although Coupling was made by an indie. That could explain it.

Yes, I saw it on the DVD of series three of Bottom.

I've got both Threads and Little Britain Series 2 on DVD and they both have the 2 l entertain and the normal BBC DVD ident, which I thought would have been consigned to the Video Ident Dustbin like it's VCI counterpart.

Has anyone else noticed that since VCI is now 2 l entertain, that Granada Ventures and Channel 4 are now doing distributing their own DVD's, this is evident on Peter Kay: Driven To Distraction (Granada) and Sugar Rush and Max & Paddy's Road To Nowhere which have Channel 4 break bumpers acting as the DVD idents.

I think the BBC logo at the beginning is less to brand the fact that it is a "BBC DVD" more that it is a "BBC Programme". The fact that the DVD production is now no longer BBC or VCI branded doesn't mean the programme shouldn't be.

I guess it is like the distributor and production studio credits on a film DVD.

I also agree. Although quite a lot of new stock is "2" branded now, almost all Beeb stuff.
