Today was a sad day. CBBC will seem more like a programme than a strand, more like the saturday show/live and kicking than like the old style cont booth/broom cupboard style.

Still, won't stop me getting up to see it, or as I like to put it, staying up all night to make sure I'm awake.

Morning on TWO is Dom and Dick, then its CBeebies with? and Beebie and the afternoon on One is with Ortis and Fearne.

CBeebies will be presented by Liam - he said on Friday's Breakfast Show that he was leaving 'CBBC', which to an extent is true, but after he 'left' he popped up presenting the younger kids show till 10:50am, which must have confused some kids. Anyway, he'll be doing 11am/1pm/3:25pm next week, all of which I expect will be recorded.

Pah. Will all be cropped. Pathetic. CBBC take a hint- it's not clever, it's not cool and it's totally the wrong way to promote widescreen, especially on digital where the 14:9 comprimise it's no comprimise and there is no way to view it properly. The wayt he TV companies are implementing widescreen is making it look like a bad thing.
Will any members of this board who work for the BBC tell their collegues how incompetant we feel they are for doing this, and how pathetically stupid it is? Programmes should be shown properly. This cropping malarky is stupid and no matter what anyone might say it does not promote widescreen or make it look better, but actually makes widescreen look worse and less attractive. The sooner the BBC realise this, the better.

Yes I was hoping the old shows at least would not be cropped. I hope they realise this is a mistake, I will watch in 4:3 bcos I hate letterbox format when it's 14:9, i'd rather have my screen filled!

Don't forget that if there are any changes it'll take a few days for the people who type out the EPGs to take notice. CBBC shows didn't start being labelled as widescreen until a few days into the September new look.

Was anyone surprised that there was no mention on screen as to what channel numbers the new CBBC channels would be on. Kids will be worried tomorrow that they can't watch their favourite TV programmes when they can't find them!

I'd have thought that at least Adrian would have gone through it aat 6.58 on CBBC on Choice. A simplified speech like 'If you have Sky Digital, CBeebies will be on channel *** and not here' They'll be confused I can see it now!

and many TV Guides still go by what the original recording was.

Sorry but am I the only person who has no idea what 'Cropping' means? Confused

Cropping means cutting off picture, and CBBC sadly do just that to all 4:3 programmes (though strangly when their presentation was 4:3 they had no problems switching between 4:3 and 16:9). CBBC crop to 14:9 though many other programmes (Like I Love 19xx) crop to the full 16:9
They should pilarbox, like this:

Not crop, like this:
4:3 to 14:9

4:3 to 16:9

16:9 to 14:9

16:9 to 16:9
