On one note this does make me think- are they the only things still produced by ITV franchisees for Channel 4? In the early days ITV companies used to make loads of stuff for them, though obviously they were funding the channel and selling their advertising back then anyway.
Don't forget there were very few indies around then.

Otherwise surely ITV would have 'had back' things like Countdown and Come Dine With Me, wouldn't they?

Hmm, not sure. I do remember going to my local library in 1995 to read the bids for Channel 5.
Who would own the copyright, I wonder? Ofcom? The individual companies?
Are these bids available online to view?

I'm in two minds as to whether to submit a Freedom of Information request to Ofcom and/or ITV plc, as those are the two key places the bids, if they still exist, will be...
*edit* I've done it. May not be releasable or available but only one way to find out...

Did you use WhatDoTheyKnow to send it, by chance?

Thanks for the tip. Will try to pick that up when if I can.
Poundland at the moment have stocks of Phil Redmond's autobiography - well worth £1 if only for the chapter on the MerseyTV/Yorkshire bid for the North West.

Thanks - be interesting if anything comes of it. At worse they can only say no.

My thoughts exactly. They did answer an FOI on the bid amount of CPV-TV so there is definitely some historical information at Ofcom about the 1991 franchise round. Nothing to lose and everything to gain.

There's a fair amount of stuff on C4 made by ITV owned indies, can't think of any other shows on there specifically under the ITVS banner though.
As for bids my old university library had a few from the last franchise round so they were certainly publicly available.
