I hope that this year BBC ONE will use both Snowflake and Christmas Puddings to give a bit of variety. Last year I was sick and tired of seeing the Christmas Puddings bouncing around in every junction for two weeks. I doubt there will be a new ident this year for BBC ONE but most likely one for BBC TWO.

What you have to remember is that Peter Fincham is now in control of BBC One. So he could to do away with the dancers all together by Christmas, or then again he may take the Roly Keating approach and not bother.

As for idents, we can't guess at ITV as of yet as they are supposed to be rebranding. I hope that BBC Two carry on with these out of the yellow idents and head for a totally different concept for Christmas, if they bother again.
The only channel that we can be certain of is Channel 4 as it's less than a year since they had a big old change. I'm hoping that Channel 4 will pull something out of the bag, or maybe a few idents based on the theme.

Following last years tragic events of Boxing Day and the amount of critisicm BBC1 received over their bouncing puddings into the news, I doubt that the puddings will be used again. If they are, a new soundtrack may be done to support it. I expect that BBC1 will have a Christmas/Winter themed ident for the festive season as it is historically the most watched channel at Yuletide. Having the idents creates a sense of atmosphere - a bit like Christmas Point of Sale in Department stores etc. Christmas images at Christmas time can increase sales in shops and viewers on Television.

It would be really good if BBC1 used a series of festive idents from the past so that we could get a touch of nostalgia, but I suspect they will use the snowflake children again.

If Christmas idents never had an effect on ratings, then it is doubtful that money would ever have been in the first place.

I Just hope that channel 4 don't do what they did last year - which was to not use Christmas Idents at all. It would've been good to follow the theme of the promotion, with the box made of Christmas lights.

Well there's lots of flexibility this time for Channel 4 to create an xmas ident, lets hope they do.

Is it likely that any Christmas idents have even been made at this stage? Laughing
