News is coming in to me from ex colleagues that the ITN News channel is set to close this weekend, Alison Bell quit last Friday, the radio channel has stoped broadcasting and the channel seems to have stopped broadcasting on DTT (though I'm not sure about that).

Well if what you have heard [b:0519339185]is[/b:0519339185] true, it comes as no surprise. NTL customers have the ability to "press red" - what do us Sky Digi viewers have the ability to do? Bugger all.

It's not the top of list for 24-hour news channels and so I think it's about time they got rid of it.

I guess we'll have to see, I don't want to be one of those forum people who say things like this will happen or watch out for some major news event.

This could be rubbish I guess we shall just have to wait and see.

Have a cool weekend folks!

I've never saw ITN News Channel cause I don't have it, but is it really that bad? From what I've heard, the channel really isn't up too much mainly because they don't have any programmes like News 24 does, it's just rolling news constantly!

Do you really think it will shut down? What with everything else going on at ITV, what with the Sports channel at that, to me, I wouldn't be at all surprised!

if they closed SIXTV is gonna be dead.

the itn bits on SIXTV is the only good bit Confused

I hope they don't close, its the only channel with non-stop news, with no interview shows and that rubbish.

Well they're good, unless you actually want the news when you want it, not to turn onto News24 and see a interview show like craptalk.

It said in the Daily Mail today that ITV were buying out all other owners of ITN and the news channel will become the ITV NEWS CHANNEL.

Don't ever believe the Daily Mail - trust me on that! Lol!

(As for Ryan's comments about red button - well, we don't get it on Sky News so it's quite fair to me! Lol! Honestly though, nothing much there. Just HTML pages!)

Alison Bell quit last Friday? Last Friday being the one just gone or the one before that? (Some people confuse the two as it's only just past Fri).

Because if it was the one before, it might not be true as I saw her on Thurs IIRC.

Well I can confirm ITN Radio is still going on DAB...and according to another forum, an editor at ITN didn't even know the hours on DTT had been reduced.
