That's not how it works. Even productions made by BBC Studios are paid for by the licence fee if they are commissioned by licence fee funded channels.

Yes! You're right! Unfortuantely the only recording I ever had of Britain's Most Wanted was from a VHS tape therefore terrible quality...today only the theme tune audio has survived. A great tune...

ZDF also have a clock before the news, as do many of the regional broadcasters and even some private ones. Furthermore, there are plenty of clocks before news on the continent, including (from memory) VRT, SVT, YLE, DR, RTS (Serbia) and several Russian channels.

Well, the BBC have kindly provided me with some wonderful quality BBC ONE and BBC TWO clock images, so I'm busy making v2.0. It will still be done in VB, but this time each version will be standalone, ie not combined, so the files won't be so big.
