24 hour Panel People should have been on BBC One after the Football League Show until 5:30am Wink

Are the BBC Three shows actually going to be complete episodes of each programme or a series of clips? It looked like they were aiming for complete programmes what with all the retakes they kept doing but surely clips is the right way to go, isn't it? Besides, have ITV allowed the BBC to show a complete episode of Celebrity Juice on a BBC channel? How many times are they allowed to show it, this is BBC Three after all? Do programmes such as Call my Bluff, QI and Give us a Clue appeal to BBC Three's demographic?

Did the Never Mind the Buzzcocks recording actually last long enough to get a complete show out of? It finished mid way though the show because David Walliams had done his 24 hours.

Edited highlights AFAIK although I wonder if there's an option for ITV2 to broadcast the whole Celebrity Juice if they keep the Comic Relief appeal bits in?

There's 5x 30 min episodes, so there's probably going to be 4 shows in each episode, 5 or 6 mins each with a couple of appeal films. David recorded links into the next show at the end of each recording (which'll presumably introduce the title sequence of each show) and then at certain stages recorded "join us again tomorrow for more" bits as well.

I think I'm right in saying there were 19 shows featured (was going to be 20 but Room 101 was dropped), so one episode would have to feature 3 shows, with a bit more time for each, perhaps the second episode which would feature both the Generation Game and Blankety Blank, which were two highlights.

Bit of a shame it'll be cut down so much, while there clearly wasn't enough for complete episodes of each show overall I think there was enough good material to do hour-long episodes, so each show could have 10-12 minutes each.

Buzzcocks finished just after the Identity Parade round, so there was only Next Lines to go, so they'd done 3 out of the 4 rounds. As soon as the 24 hours was up, that was that, the scores or anything else in the game didn't matter any more.

That's how pre-recorded TV works. Have I Got News For You can often have over an hour of good usable footage, talk shows can go on for hours, a half hour interview can be cut down to two minutes.

Maybe one day execs will decide to stick more rushes on this interweb thing, wouldn't hold my breath though.

I didn't know Room 101 was dropped. Do you know why? Nick Hancock was there for They Think It's All Over anyway. Was it just a time thing?

Perhaps they were going to use Paul Merton for that as well as Have I Got News For you? He didn't turn up for the latter if i remember.

This page suggests it was meant to be Nick Hancock presenting.

Yep, Nick Hancock was due to present, it was dropped because it was massively overruning by that point.

It gradually built up to being 30 minutes late by the time Celebrity Juice started, which itself overran by another 30 minutes. On the schedule you'll see there's a larger than normal gap between Argumental and QI which was used to catch up a little bit, but even then QI started at just before 1am. After They Think It's All Over, they skipped Room 101 and went on to Call My Bluff, about 10-15 minutes earlier than planned (a bit of extra time which was definitely needed in the end!)

They are a bit with programmes like QI XL and Have I Got More News for you

I doubt you'll see much else in the way of offcuts. Quite a bit of the extra time is just 'tightening' the programme. For example in the first round in HIGNFY the panel pause lots and continue talking after the clips have finished; in the edit it's neatly timed to fit the clips. Most of the stuff that gets cut is cut because it's just not as good; it's basically quality control.

This is currently on BBC Three. How long would it take to edit a half hour programme like this? I only ask as we are in the rare position where we know exactly when this was recorded, we know there wasn't any obvious technical problems while the programme was being made yet the subtitles are appearing one word at a time as if it was a live or late delivered programme.

Another question should be, how long would it take to [properly] subtitle a half hour programme like this?

8 Out of 10 Cats was edited down to FIVE minutes. That's just plain ridiculous, and adds insult to injury, on top of the barmy decision not to televise the live recording. Has the television viewer actually been considered in any of this television marathon?

Could that be to do with format rights, though?
