True in a sense. They kept the brand, but they did change the recipe on some products, such as Creme Eggs, and changed the Heroes chocolate selection (they now include Toblerone, a brand Kraft already owned before buying Cadbury).

Well the most obvious example of brand synergy between Cadbury+Kraft is the Dairy Milk bars with Oreo, Daim, Chip's Ahoy and so on.

Yes, although the addition of bits to Dairy Milk is mainly done to save costs with the rising cost of cocoa - it's to bulk out the chocolate with bits of Oreo etc.

It was something that hadn't been done before the takeover apparently, the Dairy Milk brand was traditionally sacrosanct

Confectionery is so off topic, unless we're talking about Fox's Glacier Mints

Fox aren't going to mess with a popular and established brand, full stop. It's the same reason Asda is still Asda, and not Wal-Mart 18 years after that takeover.

They've actually tried using dual branding (larger stores being Asda Wal-Mart Supercenters, smaller ones saying Part of the Wal-Mart Family) but that got reverted when Walmart changed it's logo (losing the hyphen). They did recently add part of the Walmart logo to Asda's though.

I think that example proves that even if a change was attempted, it definitely won't happen overnight.

Actually the first instance of this was when they unsuccessfully attempted to fold Wispa, Caramel and Fry's Turkish Delight into the Dairy Milk brand.

Wasn't it around 2002/3 they decided they wanted Dairy Milk to be a megabrand? So Cadbury Caramel became Dairy Milk with Caramel, Wispa was replaced by Dairy Milk Bubbly, they introduced Dairy Milk with Turkish Delight. Don't think Fry's Turkish Delight itself was ever discontinued though.

It was the slightly more washed out "Dairy Milk Turkish" actually, which at the time reminded me of how Carlton avoided using Carlton Central or Carlton Westcountry - always "Carlton Central Region" and "Carlton West Country".

Correct. Daily Milk Turkish didn't replace Fry's Turkish Delight, unlike Bubbly replacing Wispa, which was later reverted. Caramel was just a name change.

If your looking for proper changes try roundtrees which become nestle. Yuck.

But this whole thread hasn't really moved forward since page 1.

I think you mean you want Cadbury® brand Dairy Milk™ chocolate, the only chocolate bar with a glass and a half of full cream milk in every half pound!
