No pressure on England then.

NBCSN has carried the England matches as Spanish language simulcasts (as not to infringe on Fox’s rights) so far including ads in Spanish. Bet they’ll do the same for Colombia v England.

So maybe it wasn't such a bad match to pick, even though it was a poor game / result.

I assume the ITV Sport logo is seen in Scotland there anyway.

It is, but the opening sting is replaced by an STV Sport branded one:

Looks like the score graphics during the game have stopped looping when flipping through the scorers for a team that has scored two or more goals - they're now freezing on the team's most recent scorer before sliding off the screen.

I was one of a not-insignificant number of people who were slightly disappointed that Belgium only scored five against Tunisia - though not only did I feel that they should have scored nine at least, I would have liked to have seen how the graphics would have handled having to flip through that many goals.

And I was one of a *definitely* insignificant number of people who were slightly disappointed that the ref blew for full-time immediately after Tunisia's second goal. I presume the graphics would have frozen on Khazri while continuing to flip through Lukaku (45+3'), Hazard (51') and Batshuayi - but I guess I won't know for sure until the next match with a similar scoreline (this was only the second in which both teams scored at least two goals).

Well, *now* I know for sure, thanks to France and Argentina... Wink

The graphics flipping through all six of England's goals against Panama, meanwhile, suggests that they probably *could* handle flipping through even more, even if that meant remaining on the screen for at least 20 seconds.

While I still prefer the old way of displaying the names of each scorer and the minute(s) in which each scored all at once (e.g. Stones 8' 40', Kane 22' (p) 45+1' (p) 62', Lingard 36'), the flipping *has* grown on me to some extent. Smile

It is a nice idea but doesn't quite work for football. They do use it in rugby occasionally but only for the latest scorer and only to flip between the tryscorer and conversion taker.

Don't the BBC usually have a penalties scorebar?

Oh my god. The hosts Russia have beat Spain with their penalty shootout. Spain, former 2010 champions, are now out of the WC.

RTÉ2 have cancelled their repeat of The Simpsons btw.

I don't think they have ever had a scorebar for penalties. Usually just the BBC SPORT logo.

Could we see the BBC picking both Friday matches if England lose to Colombia as France v Uruguay and possibly Belgium v Brazil would both be bigger matches than Saturday's matches. Obviously if England are through it will be England and Friday 7pm picked.

Adrian Eames & Brian Kerr are now in Russia for RTÉ2's coverage of the WC for Croatia vs Denmark.
