There's one irritant in the encoding being used for this. Horizontal movement is subject to microscopical judder, Not usually noticeable on mixed content, but when the pitch is so clearly marked out with mowing lines this shows significantly. BT Sport's service has had this previously but not so much recently. This needs working on.

RTÉ using the proper three letter acronym for Spain "ESP". They also used "MAR" for Morocco earlier. It's something I like to see because usually whenever the world feed graphics show stats like shots on target they tend to use those three letter acronyms.
One thing they don't have sadly is a jersey colour indicator.

The RTE scorebar is exactly the same as the Telemundo one a few pages back, and the Fox one on the same page, (minus in both cases the text over it) and the TRT one a page before that. That says to me that there is a common design scorebar, but BBC and ITV just aren’t using it - just like they aren’t using the official opening titles.

I’d read the BBC studio was going to be upscaled. If it is it’s fooling me, looks native 4K.

Jesus that's a complete and utter assault on the eyes.

That scrolling scoreboard is a bit annoying.

Because it loops, it also makes it look like both teams have scored the same number of goals, which is a bit of a flaw.

I have to say... I hate it. Embarassed

That said, I'm probably *too* used to seeing the names of all the scorers, and the minutes in which each scored, all at once. Wink

Mind you, the way they're doing it here could be problematic if the score is something like 7-3...

To be fair, if it was the old way, the screen would be half obscured, especially if it was 7 different scorers

It's a hot mess. Never has the phrase "less is more" been more forgotten

BBC clearly got the pick of the group games tonight.

As for graphics - the list format used at the end was hardly intrusive. The flipper is a nice idea but gets messy when the scores aren't equal, so at 2-3 it was looping through the scorers but went back to Portugals first goal when highlighting Spain's 3rd.

The 4K HLG HDR- wow! At its best it’s like the demo material you’d see in shops. Being 50p is really helping the motion as well.

To be fair - normal iPlayer HD is 50p already. The BBC has had 720p50 SDR on iPlayer for about 3 years now.
