Tennis over so have dipped in this afternoon. Good enough show, but are C4 embedding people in the athletes areas. Was odd to see Johnny Vegas pop up in the competition zone of the Table Tennis this afternoon. I might have got the wrong end of the stick but with the Last Leggers appearing in the Opening Ceremony too it seemed odd. Maybe they are using their influence with ParalympicsGB to get to the IPC for favours bearing in mind their extensive coverage.
The shortfalls of broadcast are showing too, or rather not showing, seems that the Para Equestrian isn't getting televised at all by OBS.
I can see Channel 4 signing up Jonny Peacock as a regular for The Last Leg.
Although you forget the normal Last Leg is very different to the Paralympics version. When it's back to Adam Hills ranting and calling Tory politicians a dick, he might not fit in.
It's a slight shame they couldn't have done this show during the Olympics as well. I would have liked to have seen some of our Olympic medalists having a bit of fun and banter on this show rather than the straight interviews they gave elsewhere. Not sure how that would have worked mind.
Well they wouldn't have had the rights to show any Olympic footage for a start.
The other factor is that a show like 'The Last Leg' is incredibly difficult to get right and the BBC were wise not to try to recreate its success. There's been too many examples of broadcasters trying to 'take a light hearted' or 'sideways look at events' and it being utterly cringeworthy or just boring. A whole number of factors came together to make it work in 2012 - both infront and behind the camera - and they've been carefully adapted to the weekly version the rest of the time.

I can't, really. He seems a nice guy and all, and of course he'd keep the leg:presenter ratio suitably low, but he doesn't strike me as witty-banter-sidekick material.
C4 really needed to put a second and arguably third channel into service tonight with the tennis final, basketball semi final and usual swimming and athletics finals, though fair play to them for moving away from them to concentrate on the tennis.
Really annoying though they haven't adopted the standard tennis ad break structure, meaning every 4th game or so is missed.

I don't think C4 have more than one gallery available in Rio for sport (Last Leg is separate I think), so they (or Sunset & Vine) would need to find galleries in the UK to fire up to accommodate production, potentially adding graphics, handling presentation and commentary, co-ordinating ad breaks etc. That's non-trivial, and probably not in the plan.
It's not just a case of cutting up a world feed in London.

Who on earth are these commentators on the tennis? They won't shut up. It's like listening to two blokes in the pub.
Bob Ballard & Peter Norfolk, Ballard is an excellent broadcaster on diving and swimming alongside Leon Taylor at the Olympics for example but his commentary doesn't relate to tennis as well and I believe Norfolk has basically won everything from Grand Slams to Paralympic Games in Wheelchair Tennis.
Just wanted to mention as well The Last Leg, how much better has it been this series concentrating on Paralympic Sport than the EU Referendum. I am usually a big fan but the last series for me was awful and in my opinion which others might disagree with but I believe Alex Brooker was constantly the most rational and funnier than 2 professional comedians.
