I cant be the only one irritated by these unnecessary pantomime debates.

Can we just have an episode of Top Gear instead?

They've had to change the set up so many times for one reason - David Cameron. They have probably put forward every possible configiration by now and the prime minister, you'd think a responsible person, has twisted around time after time. It comes across as a tad dictatory.
I think the person driving this is probably Craig Oliver - Cameron's director of comms; previously editor of the BBC's general election coverage. He knows Cameron has nothing to gain from the debates and also how best to play the broadcasters at their own game.

Only 1 programme will count as "Official Election Debate". Of the others, two are not debates, and the third is Opposition only.

So Lib Dems excluded from 'Opposition Debate' as they are in government. Don't expect Clegg is happy with that.

Yes and in turn they got UKIP removed from the Question time special. Negotiations must have been fun!
