As far as we're aware are C4 still planning to go all out with their Paralympic branding from next week? I'm sure when they won the deal they said the channel would be rebranded accordingly after the Olympic closing ceremony as part of the build up to their coverage, but haven't heard anything about it recently.

I doubt idents will change (though I do think the 2012 logo could work very well in a similar style to the C4 logo), but the bumpers at least are already out there having been used in their Paralympic shows and look very good.

Some "pilot" idents but no idea if they got taken up:

Probably the Rudd Studio one is more realistic as an option as they played a part in the 'recent' rebrand of Channel 4 - http://www.ruddstudio.com/project/channel-4-re-brand-2010/

That Rudd one on vimeo is excellent. Really nice use of the existing branding.

No clue what that stop motion thing is meant to be :S

It's a shame they're not going to be making use of 4seven for their live coverage. It would be totally against the channel's purpose but still, I can't imagine there's going to be too many people wanting to see to see day old Paralympic coverage which is surely what they're going to end up showing given that Channel 4's schedule will pretty much be devoted to it.

It would be one more slot for Freeview as well.

4seven does have a major problem if all normal Channel 4 programmes are off air.

Quote:
In the 8.00 pm and 10.00 pm slots the channel broadcasts a repeat of shows from the previous day that have created a critical buzz in newspapers, chatter on social media through Twitter and Facebook and reaction on the overnight log of comments kept by the broadcaster. The 11.00 pm slot is used to repeat the programme shown on Channel 4 at 9.00 pm, which air again on 4seven at 9.00 pm the following day. The rest of the programmes on 4seven are reruns of the most popular ones of the week. Weekends are devoted to multiple repeats of the best-rated programmes of the past seven days.
It can't do that if there's only sport shown.

I think it's obvious that it won't and will probably fill it with repeats if they aren't using it for Paralympic coverage.

BTW, has there been any exhibition events at the Olympics yet - I'm sure they normally have a couple of wheelchair races in the athletics?

Anyway, C4's schedules for the first few days now out - and guess what, they can't survive a few days without Deal or No Deal and Come Dine with Me.

The Opening Ceremony is from 8pm on the Wednesday.

C4 then airs coverage from:
7.00am - 9.15am (Breakfast show)
9.15am - 12noon
12.05pm - 3.25pm:
5.25pm - 6.30pm (Swimming finals start at 5.30pm)
7.30pm - 10.30pm (mainly Athletics)
10.30pm - 11.15pm (Highlights presumably)

More4 airs coverage from 3.25pm-5.25pm and 6.30-7.30pm, with Come Dine with Me in the middle. C4's non-paralympic content is Deal or No Deal at 3.25pm, Come Dine with Me at 4.25pm, The Simpsons at 5pm, Hollyoaks at 6.30pm and C4 News at 7pm.

I'm not surprised about this and thought More4 content would do exactly what it is doing - enable C4 to show stuff it shows every day anyway. C4 might argue I suppose they need to bring people to the channel to sample the games, but really apart from the news I think they could have gone all out on it as BBC1 did.

No schedules yet for 4seven, so no idea what they're showing.

Based on previous information Rick Edwards and Daraine Mulvihill host the breakfast slot, Jonathan Edwards and Kelly Cates host the morning slot, Arthur Williams and Georgie Bingham host afternoons and Clare Balding and Ade Adepitan host the evening slot, with Adam Hills fronting the highlights.

Opening Ceremony seems to be simulcast on More4 - perhaps this is with signing?

Presumably they've calculated those programmes will make more money that the Paralympics in those time slots.

It's going to be very interesting to see how these games do, I'm hoping the public really embrace them. I'm sure Channel 4 and the team they've put together are going to do a brilliant job.

Jon Snow is also doing a seven-part series - Jon Snow's Paralympic Show, which will be shown weeknights at 7.30pm from Monday 20th August.

BBC One has just shown the Channel Four trailer with additional Fivelive branding at the end. Clare interviewed and introduced as 'working in the team covering the event'.

It's been shown a few times on BBC One - I think the first time was on the One Show a few weeks ago now.
