Brilliant and much deserved rating last night. The way ITV games have rated lately I doubt they'll be 6m watching England play tonight.

It's a wonder Channel 4 never used Jonathan Edwards in the commentary box during the evening sessions, unless his BBC contract prevents him doing commentary for other broadcasters.

Having said that Katharine Merry has been good with the field events.

Well they've got five commentators as it is, three of which were part of the C4 commentary team last year at the World Athletics (along with Iwan Thomas and Dean Macey). I think they're a pretty good commentary team IMO and more than a match for the BBC's team.

Jonathan Edwards having time to prepare for his morning stint is probably more important than using him for the few minutes of field events they air each night, and I think in many ways this has been his breakthrough gig. On the BBC he's always been the presenter when the main presenter can't be bothered turning up and rarely been used outside athletics (though I think he's done triathlons) - but on C4 he's been very comfortable leading the morning coverage.

Jonnie Peacock's 100m win at the Paralympics was watched by more than 6 million viewers on Thursday night, Channel 4's most popular sporting action of the London Games to date.

Channel 4's evening Paralympics programme averaged 3.5 million viewers, a 16.7% share, between 7.30pm and 10.30pm on Thursday. It had a 15-minute peak of 5.8 million between 9.15pm and 9.30pm and a 5-minute peak of 6.3 million as 19-year-old Peacock won in 10.9 seconds – the second-fastest time in history behind his own world record. South African Oscar Pistorius finished in fourth place.

It was Channel 4's most-watched live action of the Games, and the broadcaster's biggest Paralympics audience since the opening ceremony, which had an average of 7.6 million viewers (40%) and a 15-minute peak of 10.9 million.

Might be worth noting that the rather fantastic Clare Balding will be presenting the flowers at one of the podium ceremonies tomorrow at the Olympic Stadium.

At 1pm in the main stadium I'm doing flowers for the medals ceremony of the women's javelin. I am *very* excited about this! #paralympics

3.9m Shocked was the match average beaten by Miranda and Mrs Brown's Boys repeats. I know thw Paralympics are on but England friendlies and qualification games have been rating low now for a while.

Julie Etchingham reported that Clare Balding received a massive cheer from the stadium crowd.

Superb reception for CB. Think she was touched by it. Her twitter comments infer such. It's on the C4 site for anyone to watch.

Isn't she just wonderful. I really do hope we'll still see plenty of her sports-wise at the BBC from next year. Without a doubt the stand-out British sports broadcaster of her generation. I expect the awards will start flooding in for her efforts this summer.

Can't believe its all over - again - tomorrow. Hopefully Channel 4 and the Beeb will pull out all the stops on Monday to give this amazing summer of sport a jolly good send off.

It'll be interesting to see if Clare pops up on BBC Sport before the end of the year - I think they've got one more race meeting but wouldn't be surprised if it's decided that she doesn't front that. Also Clare IMO is the natural choice as the third presenter on SPOTY this year, so it'll be interesting to see if the BBC will make that call.

As for the football last night - think that only just matched the average Paralympic rating from Thursday, never mind the peak. I don't think the switching of games to Friday nights has done ITV any favours - that is due to change for the Euro 2016 qualifiers with games played Thursday to Saturday and Sunday to Tuesday.

Fortunately, in ITV's favour that isn't the fault of ITV as most of the World Cup Qualifiers are now played Friday and Tuesday evenings, and not just the English fans complaining about the new schedules.
