I wonder if they will ever put other images on screen, which would giveaway it's not a window or just have one fixed image for the duration of the games? .
If it's of interest to anyone here's the satellite parameters for the 3 feeds:
7850 (mosaic), 7854, 7855, and 7856 are on 11.469H 27500 2/3 QSPK DVB-S.
7851 is on 12.304H 29500 3/4 QPSK DVB-S2.
7852 and 7853 are on 10.921H 23000 8/9 QPSK DVB-S2.
There is similarities with the BBC sets, the desk and the floor making. I wonder if they will ever put other images on screen, which would giveaway it's not a window or just have one fixed image for the duration of the games? I have to say I think it might look really good onscreen.
I wouldn't be surprised if the last leg has a different set, going by the trail being shown on Channel 4 shot in a dark looking studio.
Something about this photo was bugging me. Then I realised - the top section of the 4 logo is incorrect!?
The Jon Snow show was a bit strange last night. It wasn't with Jon as he was supposedly at the stadium rehearsing for the opening ceremony, with a couple of clearly pre-filmed VTs talking about the upcoming rehearsals inserted as lives, with Rick Edwards hosting. They might have got away with it if rehearsals hadn't been bought forward 24 hours due to expected poor weather.
A little insight, anyone expecting a recreation of the Olympic Opening Ceremony's dramatic effect needs to be aware that the stadium is required for action on the field at 11am tomorrow morning. The props involved will inevitably be much smaller and in keeping with a twelve hour turn-around time.
I wonder if Channel 4 could break any records in terms of ratings for these games. The games have had quite a high profile, not sure about specifically the opening ceremony, but I wonder what figure tonight's will get considering the BBC's blockbuster ratings.

Could they break 10 million?
I think C4's highest ever rating was something like 8.8 million for an Inspector Morse repeat or something equally daft in the early nineties/late eighties so hopefully they can break that tonight. It surely can, even if it got half of what the Olympics got for the opening it would still be a huge figure for C4. It's hard to call with it being on C4, it'll inevitably rate a few million lower than it would have done on the BBC but that's just how it is. It certainly deserves to rate well after the incredible promotion C4 have given this.
EDIT: Oh I take back what I said about their highest ever rating, according to Wiki it was 13.8 million in 1985 for the final episode of A Woman of Substance.
