For the case of three flights of stairs - very excessive. And the view out of the studio might be nice, but I guess we'll get no views of the studio considering how hideous it is!

1) It's the Daily Mail.

2) What if they want to have Rio Ferdinand on the show (who is on crutches at the moment)?

Or indeed any disabled guest. Using interior hospital lifts is not a viable option for obvious reasons.

That's not to say they shouldn't have found a more suitable venue, mind...

I expect it's a prime piece of real estate with a view of the stadium etc.

So what do we think is going to be the deal with graphics?

I've checked with HBS's website (the host broadcaster company) and there will be the standard offering from from the international feeds (graphics in the lower 3rd of the screen).

I hope ITV do a similar thing to Euro 2004, in which they took the Host graphics as a basis for their 'in-house' presentation style (I.e. onscreen clock and scoreline, full screen graphics from the studio etc), so everything fitted nicer.

I think it's disappointing when you have graphics is one style appearing every 10 minutes on the bottom of the screen, then a horrible boxy UK broadcaster look on the top half.

Are the BBC doing similar to Japan/South Korea 2002 and providing all of their graphics? (top and bottom half) Weren't they the first to that?

I doubt BBC Sport will take the opportunity to refresh their graphics package, but it would be nice!

It was quite clear to anyone who watched previous tournaments that the BBC graphics were slaved to the international graphics - if you like, it was just the BBC's desktop theme. The graphics themselves were quite clearly generated by the host/international feed. Watch the final on both BBC and ITV to see what I mean.

No, ITV did the same thing in 1998, while the Beeb took the generic ones. Since then it's been the other way around.

I know it was tied to the international feed, just wondered whether the BBC were going to the trouble of doing it again.

Thanks, to above post - didn't realise ITV did it before them.

From an insider on DS (yes, I know): "There's been a mistake somewhere with the new BBC Sport microphone covers being used this weekend [on Moto GP]. Those shouldn't have been used until the new look is launched."

Which suggests this Friday we will see a new look to BBC Sport's graphics and output without the yellow box (will get screenshot of microphone cover when the Moto GP arrives on iPlayer).

Well that sounds promising!

This is hardly worth posting, but after a google search, you can get a tiny, tiny preview of the official graphics coming from HBS in South Africa.

Unfortunately, full guides for broadcasters are all behind a password protected site.

But theres, a small preview in Issue 5 of a newsletter, from the site below:

No they're going to leave it until the last minute and fly out tomorrow, and not bother with rehearsals, acclimatising, booking into hotels, shooting features, doing interviews, technical setup etc.
