First to announce on TVF : England have lost the world cup 2010.
Not very surprising.
I still think that it is of significance for TV Forum. To make it more relevant though Altrus : "Does anyone know who designed the 2010 world cup graphics? Oh and by the way England have lost the world cup".
Believe the rules for most sports covered with a wirecam like Spider etc. have added rules to cope with what happens if the ball hits it. It has happened in American Football in the US - where such cameras began to be used in the 70s or 80s.
Thanks for the comprehensive reply. I didn't realise that these cameras have been in use for so long elsewhere. Interesting to know, but they do tend to add very little to the coverage really. Only see shots used a handful of times, but I guess it is quite invaluable for the post-match shots 'on pitch'.
And very nice they are too - wonder if they'll be adapted to use next season. They surely can't go back to the old ones (especially the FA Cup/England graphics) after these.
I spoke too soon. Watching the Argentina v Mexico warm up on Red Button and the overhead cam is being used extensively to very good effect. Really has the ability to provide some amazing shots and give a much better impression of the sheer scale of the stadium. Impressive stuff.
I don't know - they seem to be paying for it with the BBC getting first pick of all the knock out rounds, and possibly the first two picks next weekend.
