It's definitely BBC - the split is layed out very clearly here covering all possible permutations.

Basically, BBC have all remaining England games, R16 and QF exclusively, sharing an England semi-final with ITV.

and I believe that in the unfortunate event England get knocked out, the BBC get both Semi's.

No that's if they go through, they will share one and show one exclusively. The BBC get first pick if there is no England involvement however.

The 3rd and 4th place play off will be on ITV exclusively though even if this does include England.

It does all get rather confusing! What I meant is that BBC get 1st pick semi.

Saddest question of the tournament so far .... (if someone hasn't got there first)

Any ideas what the music ITV is using in the build up to the ad breaks? They seem to be playing under the coming up segments.

*ahem* ... sad moment over.

is it not a part of the opening music?

I think you are referring to Boy Lilikoi by Jonsi (the lead singer of Sigur Ros) - I know that the tune is used in some coming up segments, I'm not sure if it's the one you mean.

<sad>Nah that's not it - it's a kinda flutey number ...</sad>

Is it this? Go Do by the aforementioned Jonsi (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6HjT4SQKJI)

I thought the BBC's commentary during today's match was really good. Much better than ITV's efforts have been.

They did, until the ad break before the anthems, then when they came back Peter Drury said "This is Peter Drury and alongside Jim Beglin we're here for Uruguay vs Mexico". Like they did in the last Euros.

Tonight it didn't work so well, they came back from the ad break showing the same match until ITV4 switched to the correct one with a massive digital splat

That does sound a lot like it, I can't pinpoint the exact bit they use though.

As I said before RTÉ have been doing a good job in making their coverage graphics consistent throughout to look like the official graphics in the match, one gripe I had has been recently addressed, as you know both the BBC and ITV make some effort to show you what colours the teams are wearing, RTÉ weren't doing this until in the past couple of days a bar with the dominant jersey colour was added above the team name. It all helps you know. Incidentally where is Special 1 TV?

Yes the official scoreboard design dosen't have the jersey colours in them at all and RTE is adding this on top?

Incidentally where is Special 1 TV?

It's been on BBC 3 about half 10-ish the day before England matches and more web-exclusive videos on the blog over there http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcthree/

It is a great track isn't it . . . I think you can gear the little snippet that ITV use behind the vocals at around 1:28 in the above video.

Is the BBC the only broadcaster that has it's own graphics generated by the host? I'm not aware of anyone else who do it, I know most of Europes broadcasters use the FIFA provided graphics and ESPN/ABC also take the FIFA.

Well I knew they wouldn't be generated by the host as such, I was just trying to put the question in the most simplistic why possible. In terms of extra cost I meant in terms of equipment, extra staff etc.

Still does anyone know if other broadcaster are doing it.

Sky Italia's graphics are in the official FIFA style, but appear to be generated by Sky Italia themselves. They're in Italian, obviously, which is the main difference, but there's also some other slight differences to the official graphics which RTÉ and ITV are using. They remove the scorebar whenever the lower-third scorebar is displayed, for example. Outside of the match their graphics are a wierd mix between their own house look and the official look.

They also have their own varient on the title sequence which uses part of the official titles, but ends differently (the FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010 logo is only half the size it is on RTÉ and beside it is a "Sky Sport - Licenced Broadcaster" logo).
