I think ITV have done well with their presentation, theme music, titles etc for the World Cup this year. It looks like a lot of effort has gone into it, especially with them creating England specific bits for the England matches.

Obviously you see and hear a lot more of ITV's package than the BBC's due to the ad breaks.

I noticed they ran the full credits after last night's England game.

I noticed the credits too, I suppose they are fearing that they've now had their largest audiences now that their exclusivity of England coverage has ended, even if it's just one more game.

Given the result, it may be that that is the last England game ITV cover at this World Cup.

The World Cup Final is due to take place on sunday July 11th kick off at 7.30pm UK time.
It will be covered by BBC and ITV, normally both broadcasters would start their coverage a hour before kick off.
Now if and I stress if England make it to the final, I wonder what coverage will be provided then ?
Could perhaps BBC and ITV have more pre-match build up than usual and possibily start coverage at around 5pm ?

I suspect they'd be rather minimal coverage due to the extended news coverage of hell freezing over.

I imagine they will also have big problems with satellite links, what with all the flying pigs circling the planet.

World Cup 2010: ITV warns Edgar Davids over branded clothing

Row over sweatshirt worn on air by former Holland player follows furore over 'ambush marketing' by beer brand

ITV's accident-prone World Cup coverage continued today as the broadcaster was forced to caution pundit Edgar Davids about inappropriate on-air sponsorship.

ITV issued a statement after Davids wore a top emblazoned with branding for a clothing company he works with.

Davids appeared in the brightly coloured top, for football clothing brand Monta, during an interview with Jim Rosenthal as part of ITV1's coverage of Spain v Honduras, which aired from 7.30pm last night.

And once again by making such a public issue out of it gives the company more publicity than it could ever wish for.

Seriously, everyone in the stadia, plus the whole ITV team, could wear it and most viewers would remain fairly oblivious to it!

Well its right that someone breaking the rules is chastised; and the media are only reporting on this.

What would you suggest? That nobody dare enforce a rule in case it inadvertently causes more coverage?

Such things can be done quietly though. First thought is ITV trying to score brownie points with FIFA, but I guess the player/company concerned could have leaked it to the media to get the publicity they wanted.
